My overall point is that people put up fronts so they can be who they wish they were, but when it all comes down to it, they’re “who they are”.

A chick can SAY “I’m not attracted to you”, but if her body is chemically turned on by my presence, that’s obvious to me. I might play along with her bullshit and let her think she’s fooling me with her empty words, but I know what time it is, and I’ll wait her out until she finishes fronting and decides to come clean with the real deal.

A lot of people like to attribute their behavior to divine intervention, when it’s really that they’re not paying close attention to who they ACTUALLY are, and they’re surprised at their own actions.

The way I see it, the ID is what we are, the EGO is who we think we are or who we’d like to imagine ourselves as being, and the SUPER EGO is what we were brainwashed to be by our parents, teachers & peers.

In your drinking analogy, our false impressions or wishes about ourselves disappear and all that’s left is what our bodies naturally respond to.. Which you count as something primitive and not representative of our current reality, and I count as what honestly turns us on and motivates us.

There are too many women that say “I’m not that type of girl”, yet, they obviously are.

Too many that say “I’m not going to have sex with you tonight” and then start climbing all over you once they get drunk, while you’re busy kickin’ it with other chicks that know who they are and are willing to own the fact that they’re attracted to you and do something about it.

I agree with your paint analogy, but what if the pink layer wasn’t paint? o_O .. What if EVERYTHING about the car was pink? The engine, the seats, the steering wheel, the gasoline… Painting it black on the outside would make it appear black, but when the rubber meets the road, the car’s going to act as if it’s intrinsically pink… Which it is.

thanx for this article, but I’d like to point out one thing that I disagree with.
I believe that who we are is not the “id”, the “id” is what we were born like, it’s the things that were organically built in us, animals have “id” with no “ego” or “super ego”, so “id” is who we are organically, but who we are spiritually, meaning what are we like when being interacted with, is the “ego” and “super ego”.
it’s like getting a pink car then painting it in black over the old paint, now it’s officially black, and when being seen, no one will think pinky, unless it get scratched, i.e getting drunk, which I don’t.
medically, the alcohol or the drugs are known to affect the “ego” and “super ego” brain areas, leaving the “id” area intact, so if this stuff affect what it doesn’t leaving what it affect intact, it will be the other way around.
that were the two main reasons that make me believe that the “id” is not the “real you”.
what do you think guys?

My favorite Sleep/Dream materials are all Carlos Casteneda, even though his writings may be more FICTION than FACT, hahaha. I have no way of knowing, one way or the other, but they're EXCELLENT reads, regardless. :) Keep up the good work, Mawin! :D ~Bill
