Gym, Day 02
In: 163.7
Out: 163.9
So, of course, I increased my food consumption now that I’m back in the gym. The same electronic scale reported that I was 163.7 when I walked in the door and 163.9 on the way out (most likely due to drinking water while I was working out).
I hit the bag first and had a little more stamina than I had on day 01. After that, I hit a couple of machines to test how much I was pushing on them and then did some dumbbell curls. I clearly have a long way to go, but it wasn’t bad for the second day.
No supplements to this point. Just eating a little more than usual, drinking what I normally drink and bringing along my music for motivation. I don’t know how ANYBODY works out to that GARBAGE they play over the gym loudspeakers. :/
Lots of sweat after hitting the bag, but I still left .2 lbs heavier. I’m revising my peak weight guesstimate to 169 from 175. I don’t think my system’s going to hold that much weight without sweating it all away.

Bro, you’re getting old (it could even happen to Bill, GASP!)and your metabolism is slooooooowwwwwwwwinng down so you’re packing on weight. Yeah, I know you know. I’m just saying I wouldn’t add extra fuel to that fire until it was actually lit first. You’re already carrying extra oil drums as it is. Heh. Might want to try getting lean first THEN go for packing on more muscle. Oh, yeah, good luck, fatty.
@Steve: hahahaha Nah, that’s not the point, although you’re right, maybe, about slowing metabolism…
The actual point is that “it takes weight to push weight”. Every time I’ve gone on a workout campaign, in moving from being able to push minimal weight to maximum weight, I’ve traditionally gained 10 lbs right off the bat. This is because my body stays in shape without my actually working out, so I have no incentive after a while, and just quit it.
Due to muscle-memory, it’s easy for me to get the weight back. My point was that this time, I’m starting heavier than I ever WAS in my entire life, so I’ll be interested to see whether I head towards 175 or remain around 162. I’m not saying I’m TRYING to make 175, but I have a lot of “refilling” to do, and it’s going to be interesting how that works out.
As far as motivation, I was talking to my friend Jimmy, who was raving about how much he’s benching these days (I never really cared about benching. Flies are where it’s at for chest development and sculpting) and planning to look good for the summer, and I decided to use that as motivation to get myself in gear.
Ah, now I get the whole thing. The 10 lb gain.
Good luck with all that, Charles Atlas. Don’t go pulling any trains with your teeth now. ;-)
