One of the extremely annoying things about politics is the convenient cycle of rights.
For instance.. If the federal government decides something, and a politician doesn’t like it, he or she says “You should leave that right to the states! :/”.
If a particular state does something that a politician doesn’t like, he or she says “You should leave that right to the family! :/” (or individual)
If an individual does something a politician doesn’t like, he or she says “There should be a federal law against that activity! :/”
You see how this is a cycle, like the Planet of the Apes movies?.. It’s ridiculous.
What’s worse is that this is done right in pundits’, reporters’, and moderators’ faces, and they never call these people on their shenanigans.
If you don’t want the federal government to interfere with your “State’s Rights”, good for you. Rock like that, if you can get it. However.. Don’t turn around and ask the federal government to a) give you money to help balance your state’s budget, and b) make laws governing INDIVIDUALS in your state, when they’re doing things you don’t agree with.
If you’re worried about individual rights, keep it like that if you can get it. Do Not try to regulate what OTHER INDIVIDUALS DO, because it’s not what *YOU* would do with your life and time on Earth.
