Bryant Robinson owes me $1,750 (BLR Productions)

I sent Bryant Robinson, owner of BLR Productions [facebook] [linkedin] [website] an invoice for $1,750 in April, 2008 which he has not yet paid me for to this very day, January 01, 2009.
I have spoken to Bryant Robinson on the phone about this. I have contacted Bryant Robinson via email, AIM, left messages, etc, and still, Eight (8) Months after sending him the invoice, I have not received one thin dime from Bryant Robinson.
How did this happen?
For those of you who don’t know or care what Bill Cammack does, I’m a video editor:
I don’t carry business cards because I don’t work with random people. I get my business through word of mouth. Except for this ONE situation, I have NEVER had a problem receiving payment from a client. There are two basic reasons for this.
1) By selecting assignments that are brought to my attention by trusted and respected (by ME, not “in general”) people, I get put in touch with trustworthy and respectable companies.
2) People that you meet through other people tend to not want their entire business network to find out about what they did.
Of course, point #2 is usually moot because of point #1.
So… How did The Kid end up not getting paid for the first time in his entire life?
The only reason I even HEARD OF Bryant Robinson is because I was contacted by my trusted colleagues, For Your Imagination, whom I’m a fan of and with whom I had already done business without issue.
