What Your Name Is Worth

What do you do when what your client thinks is fantastic doesn’t meet your personal standards? o_O

If you work in The Arts, such as being a video editor linkedin.com/in/BillCammack, or a music mixer, your professional reputation is going to depend not only on your efficiency, but also on the content & quality of the final product, and how much your client enjoyed working with you.

It’s different from being, say, an accountant, where you can either count or you can’t, and you either count QUICKLY or you don’t. 😀

Since you’re always working for someone else (video production company, record producer), you don’t have final say over the finished quality because someone else is paying you to make THEIR VISION come to life.

So what do you do when what your client thinks is FANTASTIC doesn’t meet your personal standards? o_O Continue reading “What Your Name Is Worth”

People Have To Know Who You Are

I just became aware of the latest scandal involving an internet bigwig. Some people who used to hang out with this dude ALL THE TIME are now saying “I knew he was a creep for a long time” and/or “I heard horrific rumors about him for a long time”.

I find this situation funny, yet educational, for a few reasons. One of them is that the people that “heard rumors” didn’t say JACK **** until this dude was publicly called out for his rumored behavior, way after the fact of when the situations actually occured, and with, so far, zero evidence of anything occurring at all, other than the word of this guy’s ex-girlfriend, who happens to be his accuser.

What’s funny about that is that by speaking up NOW, you highlight that you FAILED TO or REFUSED to speak up between when you heard these rumors and when the public allegations surfaced = not fly. Continue reading “People Have To Know Who You Are”

Negative, Derivative People

Ever notice how there are some people that always have negative things to say?.. Here’s why.

Creation requires energy.

It takes a certain type of person to make something out of nothing.

I am that type of person. Continue reading “Negative, Derivative People”

Mental Self-Injury (Get Over It)

Get over it.

This doesn’t directly have anything to do with dating, but it actually does, because people bring their own mental problems with them into relationships and then wonder why they get dumped.

There’s a situation going on right now (which has nothing to do with me), where one person dissed another person, and the dissed party can’t get over it.

The reason why I know the dissed party can’t get over it is because they keep bringing it up.. In public.. On the internet. Continue reading “Mental Self-Injury (Get Over It)”

Positive Reinforcement

Make sure you offer people positive reinforcement and not only negative feedback.

So yesterday, on this Facebook group, this dude accused me of having a bunch of negative stuff to say.

Of course, my first reaction was “This dude is buggin’, and doesn’t know what the **** he’s talking about.”

The vast majority of my interaction with people is positive, being that I don’t get kicks out of being negative towards people. I really don’t care about them that much that I would get a thrill from dissing them. Continue reading “Positive Reinforcement”

Feeling Emotional About Facts

If you can stop yourself from becoming emotional over other people’s lack of emotion about commonly-understood facts, you will live a way more authentic and realistic life.

One of the things I find funny (meaning laughable, not peculiar) about my interactions with people is that most of them haven’t been through like 1/6th the stuff I have on the dating scene, so they get caught off guard by my lack of reaction to things that they find stunning. Continue reading “Feeling Emotional About Facts”

Co-Signing Mistakes

Sometimes, people that you like screw something up in business or relationships.

When that happens, you really want to take them to the side and let them know what they did wrong so they can fix it and look like they came to the right conclusion on their own.

If they refuse to listen to you and fix it, or even worse, if they refuse to admit they made the mistake in the first place, you have two choices.. You either co-sign their mistake, or you make it clear to the rest of the people aware of the situation that you know it’s a mistake. Continue reading “Co-Signing Mistakes”
