Videoblogging & Vanity

My friend Matt asked me a question the other day, regarding videoblogging and vanity. [Click Here to read the Google+ conversation.]

His question reminded me of the line you have to walk.. assuming that you want to be involved in social media at all.. between being too souped up over yourself and not souped up enough… “Souped Up” being a slang term for thinking that you’re a great person.

Basically, the question comes down to “Who cares what *YOU* have to say? o_O”, which is followed by who cares who cares what I have to say, which leads you down the spiral of vanity.

CNN Presents “Black In America: Silicon Valley”

CNN aired “Black In America: Silicon Valley” last night. It was actually more interesting than I thought it would be. I would have done the show differently, but I’m me and CNN’s producers aren’t.

Disclosure: I’ll watch *ANYTHING* with Angela Benton in it! >:P~~~

Internet Blog-Influenced News Cycles

According to klout.com/BillCammack, I’m a “Broadcaster”.. To them, that means “You broadcast great content that spreads like wildfire. You are an essential information source in your industry. You have a large and diverse audience that values your content.”

I mention that because I’m glad they changed my category from “Pundit”. Pundits get on my last nerve. 😀

I didn’t have anything against pundits before a few months ago when I started following the Republican debates to see whether they were going to field a viable team to potentially defeat President Obama in 2012.

The problem I have with them now isn’t really their fault, but they have to deal with a new development in television broadcasting which I call “Internet Blog-Influenced News Cycles”. Continue reading “Internet Blog-Influenced News Cycles”

Rolling Disclosure

So I’m watching this MSNBC show, “Hardball”, and this dude, Chris Matthews is talking about Herman Cain and he uses this really great term.. “Rolling Disclosure”! 😀 hahahaha Oh Man, that perfectly describes what I’ve been wanting to write about.

Rolling Disclosure

Rolling Disclosure is when you only give up as much information as you think the person asking you the questions can actually prove.

Most of the time, this happens to me with women, and the discussion goes essentially exactly like this: Continue reading “Rolling Disclosure”

Sexual Harassment & Inappropriate, Sexually-Suggestive Behavior

Not that I consider Herman Cain an actual Presidential candidate, but I think this Politico story => “Exclusive: 2 women accused Herman Cain of inappropriate behavior” is worth discussing.

Herman Cain

Not that I consider Herman Cain an actual Presidential candidate, but I think this Politico story => “Exclusive: 2 women accused Herman Cain of inappropriate behavior” is worth discussing.

Here’s the important part:

Politico: On the details of Cain’s allegedly inappropriate behavior with the two women, POLITICO has a half-dozen sources shedding light on different aspects of the complaints.

The sources — which include the recollections of close associates and other documentation — describe episodes that left the women upset and offended. These incidents include conversations allegedly filled with innuendo or personal questions of a sexually suggestive nature, taking place at hotels during conferences, at other officially sanctioned restaurant association events and at the association’s offices. There were also descriptions of physical gestures that were not overtly sexual but that made women who experienced or witnessed them uncomfortable and that they regarded as improper in a professional relationship.

As it pertains to Cain’s candidacy, this is a whole bunch of nothing that people are going to try to turn into something. Continue reading “Sexual Harassment & Inappropriate, Sexually-Suggestive Behavior”

Email. Not Facebook. Not Twitter. Not Phone. Not IRL…

In this time of social media, we have a lot of ways to communicate with each other.

Each one can be considered a level, or a gate, with one requiring more of a person’s time, energy, and focus than another.

Admission to the higher levels of interaction requires that you first prove yourself on one or more of the lower levels.

Time And Productivity

Let’s Get It In!

It’s currently 5:45 am and I’m writing a blog post. “Why is that? o_O” you might ask. It’s because I just woke up and my mind is CRISP!!! >:D .. Firing on all cylinders. Ready For Action.. Kickin’ Ass and Takin’ Names.

I had this conversation with my friend Jeff the other day. He was saying that it takes him a long time to get started once he wakes up, but as time goes on, he gets more and more productive, until it gets to the point where he doesn’t want to go to sleep because his brain is working so well and he’s getting so much done.

Of course.. That’s probably why it’s tough for him to put it together when he wakes up.. Because his mental activity and productivity overrides some sort of natural sleep initiative, and he ends up sleeping at the wrong times (for his own personal body cycles). Confidence & Success

A reader recently asked me something to the effect of what my source of Confidence is.

Vision

I always envision the WIN. I always see myself winning before I do something.. Unless it’s something that springs up on the spur of the moment and I didn’t have time to plan for it.

My definition of a WIN might not be the same as yours, but I definitely envision my own, and then I gauge myself “backwards” from that outcome… I already know where I’m going, and then I judge how far along that path I am while the event’s occurring.

There’s No Social In Your Media

One of the lines in the Bush song, “Everything Zen” says there’s no sex in your violence.

I’ve been thinking that a lot while watching the content that people have been posting to Google+, except the version I’ve been thinking is that there’s no social in your media.

One of the opportunities we have online is to demonstrate how similar we are to each other. That’s a valid and worthwhile pursuit, but at the same time, you want to show how different you are as well. Continue reading “There’s No Social In Your Media”
