Not that I consider Herman Cain an actual Presidential candidate, but I think this Politico story => “Exclusive: 2 women accused Herman Cain of inappropriate behavior” is worth discussing.

<g:plusone size="tall" count="1" href="http://billcammack.com/2011/10/31/sexual-harassment-inappropriate-sexually-suggestive-behavior/"></g:plusone>

Herman Cain

Not that I consider Herman Cain an actual Presidential candidate, but I think this Politico story => “Exclusive: 2 women accused Herman Cain of inappropriate behavior” is worth discussing.

Here’s the important part:

Politico: On the details of Cain’s allegedly inappropriate behavior with the two women, POLITICO has a half-dozen sources shedding light on different aspects of the complaints.

The sources — which include the recollections of close associates and other documentation — describe episodes that left the women upset and offended. These incidents include conversations allegedly filled with innuendo or personal questions of a sexually suggestive nature, taking place at hotels during conferences, at other officially sanctioned restaurant association events and at the association’s offices. There were also descriptions of physical gestures that were not overtly sexual but that made women who experienced or witnessed them uncomfortable and that they regarded as improper in a professional relationship.

As it pertains to Cain’s candidacy, this is a whole bunch of nothing that people are going to try to turn into something.

There won’t be any more information about this, because the two women “signed agreements with the restaurant group that gave them financial payouts to leave the association. The agreements also included language that bars the women from talking about their departures.”

So the accused isn’t going to talk about it and the accusers aren’t going to talk about it.

Meanwhile, I just watched Cain spokesman J.D. Gordon NOT deny this situation on Geraldo Rivera’s show. Check it out, below:

YouTube Link => “Cain’s Spokesman JD Gordon Does Not Deny Claims Of Sexual Harassment”

And we all know what *THAT* means! :D

This is one of the unfortunate realities of politics. You can’t afford to admit to anything, because even if you explain how “nothing” a situation was, your opponents are going to sound bite and half-truth you to death because of it.

Here’s the entire segment, with Ann Coulter and Juan Williams:

YouTube Link => “Ann Coulter on Liberal High-Tech Lynchings & Herman Cain (10/30/11)”

Hopefully, somebody’s going to “leak” the documents, because I’d actually like to know how harassing this “conversation” and these “gestures” were.

Cain is going to get raked over the coals for this because his team refuses to talk about it, so he’s going to be vilified regardless of whether the truth behind these allegations are revealed or not.

Also, if you’re the type of person that finds this situation interesting, wait until you find out about the Rick Perry scandal, if he ever makes it back to the top of the polls…

Sexual Harassment

I remember when they first made up “sexual harassment”.

hehehe Yes, I know that sexual harassment has been a staple of life since the cavemen or whatever, but I mean when they actually decided to make “federal cases” out of it, and they started holding “sensitivity classes” on job sites.

Do I think it’s a good idea? Yep. Because a lot of guys take too much advantage and make workplaces uncomfortable for women that either don’t have it in their personalities to tell dudes to **** off, or are scared to do so for fear of losing their jobs.

I think it’s a great idea, and I’m glad someone decided to implement it. However, there are obvious problems with it, and unfortunately, sometimes it’s allowed to go completely overboard.

For instance, when I write, I call chicks “chicks”. There are some chicks that have told me IRL that they don’t appreciate that I call women “chicks”. That’s not my ******* problem.

It’s not my problem because I’m not their boss, and if they don’t like what I write, they can go read some other blog.

If I *WERE* their boss, however, and I walked in on Monday and asked “Hey… How’re y’all chicks doing? :D” in the most friendly and personable way possible, they could STILL whine and complain about my natural language selection and claim I’m sexually harassing them with conversation that makes them feel uncomfortable.

That’s what I’m saying about this Herman Cain situation. Because the word “sexual” is added to the situation, people are going to try to associate him with Anthony Weiner and , when it most likely ain’t that type’a party.

Also.. The fact of the matter is that what you say to women, and the “gestures” you make towards them are colored by whether they’re attracted to you or not.

If they like you, you’re being sociable. If they don’t like you, you’re being a creep.

Being that it’s not likely that the chicks thought Herman Cain was HAWT, pretty much anything he says to them is going to be construed as sexual harassment.

I was chatting with this gal on Friday and asked her what she was going to do over the weekend… Had I been her boss, and had she not considered me cute, she could have tried to press charges for my asking her “personal questions”. :/

So, Yeah.. This Herman Cain / Inappropriate Behavior situation is a whole lotta nothing.

Having said that…

If the eventually-leaked documents indicate that Cain was like “Yo, You’re looking good tonight! >:D .. How about you meet me at my hotel room so you can hop up on my 9-9-9?”, *THEN* we’ll have another Political Sex Scandal to talk about!!! >:D

<g:plusone size="tall" count="1" href="http://billcammack.com/2009/04/03/stfu-technique/"></g:plusone>

I don’t care about a lot of things, so I don’t know about a lot of things. I couldn’t give a flying #&%$ about trivia, politics, the weather or just about anything else.

What I *am* fascinated by is what women do and the mental processes they utilize to arrive at their decisions. I receive immense satisfaction when a redundant behavioral pattern becomes clear to me, making me more efficient in dealing with them and making it easier for me to group together a bunch of seemingly unrelated situations into a general reason why all those things *may* have occurred.

Obviously, everyone’s an individual and has individual motivations, but you can find commonalities which allow you to skip ahead of the game instead of reinventing the wheel with every new chick you meet.

There’s a reason why lots of women buy multiple pairs of shoes that are the exact same color and the exact same type and hoard them in their closets. There’s a reason why every time you speak to a woman, she’d like to lose “that last 5 pounds” so she can feel like she looks good…

So anyway, this stuff never comes up in mixed company (guys & girls), because everyone likes to engage in light banter (read: drivel). I’m not interested in drivel, because it’s a waste of time. Nobody’s learning anything useful and nobody’s getting anywhere, unless you count the fact that the females are becoming increasingly alcoholized.

If you know ahead of time that this is going to be the case, or if you discover this to be the situation when you’re already at a party, that’s when you utilize STFU technique.

STFU Technique

Retrieve your homeboy that enjoys and is well-versed in banter/drivel.

Bring your boy to the group of girls you’d like to socialize with.

Stand next to him, but directly across from the chick you’d like to impress with your small-talking skillz.

Look in the direction of whomever’s running their mouths aimlessly at whatever time.

Keep an eye on the chick you like and notice when she seems to be fascinated by what someone else is saying.

When she’s impressed by the drivel, look directly at her, catch her eye, and nod to her as if you agree and would have said exactly the same thing if these people would have ever STFU for a second so you could have gotten an intelligent, well-refined, civilized word in, edgewise.

When you’re sure you’ve convinced her that you’re one of these run your mouth incessantly about this and that from sneakers to hats type of dude, make an excuse to leave and get her number before she tries to start an actual conversation with you.

Reverse-STFU

This also works if you realize that a chick you went out with is actually boring as hell, and you’re tired of hearing what she has to say.

Instead of using “the good ole’ vibrator trick“, listen out for a group that’s similarly talking about nothing important and interject yourself and her into the group.

Wait for conversation control to pass around a few times. Make sure she’s talking passionately about something you don’t care about and carefully ease yourself back out of the circle.

If she happens to notice that you left (which she won’t), walk in the direction of the bathroom so she doesn’t interrupt her own thought processes and go “OH! ARE YOU LEAVING?”, thus ruining the entire plan.

Drivel Loves Drivel, so you should be sufficiently rid of her for the rest of the evening. Go kick it to interesting/hawt women or get on the horn and call in your go-to chicks to come save you! :D

<g:plusone size="tall" count="1" href="http://billcammack.com/2009/03/24/she-loves-it/"></g:plusone>

She’s smarter than me… smarter than I….. smarter than I am…. Maybe not. However, she loves it and that’s what makes her dedicated to what she’s talking about to the degree that she can talk circles around me and I basically struggle to throw in sentences that amount to “oh, really?” :D

I’m not saying “oh, really?” but relative to the technical content of what she’s saying vs what I’m saying, I might as well have said “How about them Yankees?”, except that would have appeared to have been an attempt to change the topic as opposed to engaging her in something she enjoys talking about.

This is frustrating, but REALLY FUNNY at the same time. I’m struggling not to laugh in her face in the middle of one of her technical sentences that I don’t understand. I’m not dying to laugh at her, but rather to laugh at myself for my complete inadequacy in being able to hold this conversation with her, yet holding on to the strings of the Hindenburg for dear life, lest I plummet to my dating death, even though I would have passed out before I hit the ground, so I wouldn’t have known I died… technically.

I’m not letting go of the strings. If she pushes me off, I’ll go. Other than that, I’m going to “me too” my way through this situation with a smile on my face as if everything’s cool and I’m not attempting to decipher her conversational direction so as to be able to say something relevant when I can get a word in edgewise… Relevant to the last thing she said, not relevant to the only thing I understood, which was five minutes ago.

I’m also dying to laugh at women.

This is the first time that I’m getting to feel the way I normally verbally “crush” women, talking about technical things they couldn’t possibly have ANY knowledge of, such as little things I learned throughout my video editing career by trial and error and nobody told me and I never read in books.. Such as that if you’re using a Scitex Stratasphere and you accidentally leave a one-frame clip in your workspace, you’ll be able to edit fine, except once you close that tracksheet, you can never open it again, because it’s read as a corrupt file. It’s never been clear to me until now that she doesn’t know what Scitex is, much less a Stratasphere, a clip, a workspace OR a tracksheet. These are concepts that live in my mind that are as simple and clear as water pouring out of a fire hydrant, yet even that visual is a part of my everyday life as a NYC street kid and someone growing up in the sticks may have NEVER seen a fire hydrant open to this very day.

So while I’m trying not to laugh at “Me”, I’m trying not to laugh at THEM for what I’ve put them through that I’m only just realizing right now. What did she say? I’ve been thinking about *this* instead of listening to what she was saying, because… I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT SHE’S SAYING ANYWAY, so back to the exercise of selecting something I can “oh, really?” about and getting ready to toss it in when she takes a breath or a sip of her drink.

Here is the Recent Visitor Map for just that one article, ~38 hours later (approximately a day and a half):

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/billcammack/3162894298/sizes/o/"rel="nofollow" title="Bill Cammack Recent Visitors Map"> Click here to view 1048 x 857 image

This is Social Media in Action. “Reach” is now determined by how much time and effort you’re willing to put in to maintain your internet presence.

When it comes to determining “Reach”, the days of “who lives next to that person?” are OVER. The days of “Is he a radio personality or performer or some other type of celebrity?” are *OVER*. Connections are made and maintained virtually.

People are aligning themselves by values, aptitude & beliefs now, instead of by local territory and “Accident of Birth”. The “lines” are being re-drawn as people get to sample other people’s mentalities through reading their blogs, listening to their podcasts, watching their videos and selecting to find out more about people they feel in-tune with.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/billcammack/2251217298/"rel="nofollow">Jeff Pulver called it his “Social Media Living Room”. He was absolutely right. The people that you know live wherever they live, but we all come together, in various locations… virtual locations.

Sometimes, we meet up IRL, like @ PodCamps or BarCamps or SXSW or TweetUps or meetup.com or Gary’s Guide events. In the meantime, in between time, we’re reading each other’s blogs and communicating with other through social media sites like Twitter, Ning, Facebook, MySpace, etc etc etc.

Here’s an example. One day, a crane fell down in Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA and crushed a couple of buildings and killed a few people. I found out about that on Twitter, because of someone that doesn’t even LIVE in NYC. Twitter beat the local news, beat phone calls, beat EVERYTHING, because as soon as one person found out about it and posted, everyone on their followers list was notified and “ReTweeted” (RT) so that everyone on THEIR followers list could find out as well. Depending on how quickly you set your polling, you could be informed THIRD-HAND in about three minutes. :D

Similarly, a bridge fell down in Minnesota or something. Local NYC news would NEEEEEEVER have covered that, and if so, it would have been way late and way disinterested, such as “look what happened to those people way over there…. in other news…”. I found out about that way before local coverage because of Twitter. There were people that I follow who were directly affected by it and sent the information out. People that I follow went to the scene and filmed the event.

This is why integrity is the order of the day. You’d rather have people spread around the world… literally… that you’re a stand-up person and that you do the right thing, whether that’s business-wise or socially. If you’re the type of person that likes to stiff people on invoices… Trust & Believe, it gets around. If you’re the type of guy that likes to say the same rap lines to several chicks that all know each other….. Trust & Believe, it gets around. If you’re the type of female that hooks up with a new guy every other week, and they all know each other… Trust & Believe, it gets around.

Don’t feel all spiffy because nobody tells you the real deal to your face. The Back-Channel is alive and thriving. Don’t think that Australia doesn’t know what happened in NYC. Don’t think that NYC doesn’t know what happened in Minnesota. Think that you need to carry yourself with integrity & CLASS, because you never know who’s paying attention to your shenanigans and putting you ON BLAST to the entire universe.
