I’m not a fan of “Political Correctness”. Coming up with ways for people to try to be nice to each other and sugarcoat the nasty things they’re really thinking about someone else is just stupid.

So I’m watching this “reality” television show, right? :D And on this show, there’s a chick that’s crazy. Loco. Stark Raving MAD! HAHAHA She’s clearly a looney-tune, right? Not crazy as in her mind NEVER works, but that you can see it shut down and she just becomes this imbecile that says anything and does anything and then remembers things the wrong way in the future and it just keeps getting worse and worse.

Now, since this is a “reality” show, we get to see exactly what she said (unless they cheat her and slickly edit the show) and exactly how people responded to what she said. We also get to see the aftermath of the situations when she goes to gossip to other chicks about what she said and did… I mean.. What she *THINKS* she said and did, because her brain doesn’t work properly. The fact that we get to watch the footage means that we get to determine on our own whether she’s nutso or not. This comes in handy later on in the series…

The Situation

So, the chick in question.. Ms. Two Sandwiches Short Of A Picnic rolls up to this other chick and accuses her of something. The accused chick says calmly, clearly and loud enough for her to hear “I didn’t do that”. Crazy keeps yakking about yes she did. The other chick asks her for proof and she refuses to produce it.

As a side note.. This is how you can usually tell that people are full of ****. If you accuse someone of something, you have to be prepared to inform them how you know they did it. You either have to admit that you SAW them do it or became privy to the information on your own, or you have to be prepared to give up your sources. If you have no proof, you have no case. If you have no case, you need to shut the **** up.

If you know you’re not willing to provide your proof, you need to STFU from the giddyap and never speak on the topic. That’s similar to how if you’re not willing to get punched in the face, you need to make sure you don’t intentionally and arrogantly insult people that are standing within arm’s reach of you.

So anyway.. That’s how that situation went. Ms. Not Playing With A Full Deck kept accusing and the sane gal kept emotionlessly denying AND requesting proof, which she never received.

Fast Forward a while in the series, and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest sits down with some of her homegirls to tell them the story. She says how she confronted the sane chick, and I’m like “Wait until they hear that she refused to offer proof! :D”, and then she goes “… AND SHE ADMITTED IT!!! :D”. :/

I swore I didn’t hear that correctly, so I didn’t immediately react. I was trying to figure out in my mind what she ACTUALLY said that SOUNDED LIKE she said the other chick admitted doing the deed. So one of her friends goes “She admitted it?” and Looney Tunes goes “YES!!!!! :D”.

So now, I’m jumping up and down, throwing imaginary popcorn at the screen because I’m like “NOW, SHE’S BUSTED!! NOW, SHE’S BUSTED!!! PLAY THE FLASHBACK!!!!! :D”……….. and nothing. Nothing. The conversation went on as if she had been telling the truth, when she clearly was either boldly LYING or her brain didn’t properly compute the event and she was telling her friends what she really believed was the truth.

Fast Forward some more, and the gals that got that lie of a story received THE REAL STORY from people that were THERE and happened to also have not been crazy. So now, EEEEEEEVERYBODY including the viewers at home know that this gal’s mind doesn’t work properly.. Well.. I suppose, everyone BUT HER, that is. :/

The Problem

Further down the line, one of these gals gets in a heated conversation with Ms. 5150 and loses her grip on Political Correctness and calls her Crazy and/or Stupid to her face. The Crazy Chick immediately takes offense to this statement on the grounds that it’s….. rude? O_o

ummmmmmmmmmmmm

This is the problem with Political Correctness. It doesn’t change THE FACTS. It doesn’t change how anybody FEELS. It just changes what they’re willing to SAY about how they feel. This gal got called on her rudeness because she looks like the Odd Woman Out for saying what everyone else was already saying behind LT’s back. If people had been straight up with her the whole time that she’s been TRIPPIN’ THE **** OUT, she might have already sought professional psychiatric help already and been on her way to recovery.

Instead, she’s walking around thinking “I’m mentally fine, and anyone that doesn’t recognize that I’m a perfectly well-functioning human being is an idiot or deliberately trying to be rude to me”. This is a disservice TO HER and to everyone that has to deal with her because she never takes a hard look at herself because nobody wants to be the bearer of bad news.

The fact of the matter is that Some. People. Are. Just. Crazy.

We can sit around and discuss things and blog and speculate about “why guys or gals do this or that?” and “what happened to my relationship? blah blah blah” but sometimes the solution to the situation is that you were dating a ******* lunatic!

Pump It or Dump It

A friend of mine told his girlfriend to cross the street and she started an argument with him. I was like “Will you PLEASE dump that *****?” and he wouldn’t, so he got what he deserved. Every time he told me about how crazy she was, I laughed my ass off, but he didn’t get a single iota of sympathy from me. None. :D

It doesn’t have to be that your SO is off his or her rocker, either. Whatever you don’t like about them that you start out the sentence with “He Never…” or “She Always…” and you’ve talked about it and tried to resolve it and nothing changed and you still didn’t dump them? \o/ No Sympathy.

Some people are going to REMAIN screwed-up individuals regardless of how nice you are to them, how much sex you hook them up with, how many dinners you take them out to, how many kids you have with them, whatever. When you figure this out, you’re gonna have to either grin & bear it or skate.

I don’t do well around crazy people. The stuff they say is so STUPID that I have to question their ability to properly process reality, which makes me feel nervous. I tend to weed out lunatics immediately, as soon as I become aware that they’re buggin’.

I realize that in a “reality” show situation, I might have been stuck with interacting with that person, so in the best interests of EVERYONE that has to come in contact with her going forward, I would have requested of the producers to show her the tape of exactly what happened, since she didn’t have access to the truth in her mind. If they refused (which is highly likely), I would have informed her of what REALLY HAPPENED and brought in witnesses to corroborate my story. If she still insisted that the lunatic was on the grass, I’d calmly inform her that she should seek psychiatric help and hope that she doesn’t call me “rude”. :D

Politically Correct (PC) expression is one of the recent fads. People love to choose something to do and then hop on the bandwagon. While all the drones are enjoying it, I find myself increasingly disgusted at having to extract what people actually feel from between the lines of what they’re willing to say.

Challenges

I have no idea when this PC stuff started or whose fault it is. Basically, how it works is that people have agreed to translate what they would normally say into different words, and that’s supposed to make people feel better about themselves and feel as if people respect them.

For example, I’m not the shortest person in creation, but I’m not tall either. I’m 5’9″. Someone that’s 6’4″ that’s talking about me on the other side of the room might be inclined to say “That short guy over there”. Assuming that I felt poorly about myself for someone stating THE FACT that they’re considerably taller than I am, it’s supposed to make me feel better about myself if that same guy says “That VERTICALLY-CHALLENGED guy over there”. :/

Really? :/

I suppose they think people are too stupid to translate in reverse.

Bums

I think the first time I became aware of this was when Bums became Homeless.

When I was growing up, we had regular people and then we had Bums. I suppose, in my ignorant mind, I assumed that they were bums by choice, electing not to get jobs and instead, hang out on the street and scowl at the kids on our way to elementary school. It made perfect sense to me at the time. Why get a job and pay rent when you can sleep right there on 96th street in between Park and Lexington for free?

Eventually, Giuliani arrived and all of our bums disappeared into thin air.

Many years later, I heard some guy being ‘corrected’ when they said “Bum” by some chick that said “You mean ‘Homeless’”. The male drone apologized and corrected himself and went on with what he was saying. Meanwhile, I was standing there wondering HOW IN THE HELL this chick knew that that homeless guy wasn’t a bum. :/ There are homeless people that are not bums and there are bums that are not homeless. There are bums that live indoors and have several kids.. They’re STILL *BUMS*.

Flip-Flops

Here in New York City, we have snow. We also have women (and certain “males of the species”) that will wear flip-flops in freezing cold weather. No protection from any of the elements OR physical injury, and there they go, walking down the street like psycho ward patients that just took their meds. Ignorance is bliss.

What you’re thinking when you see this is “That ***** is an idiot”. What you SAY to the gal you’re talking to, whom you figure is equally retarded, is “Are those still in style? Shouldn’t she be wearing Uggs, like the OTHER 99% of you NYC females?”

So you end up SAYING something different from what you’re FEELING, which doesn’t help anyone. When that chick you were talking to shows up to your next hangout in flip-flops, you spend the entire time quietly seething about what an IDIOT she is while she’s thinking she looks cute and trendy.

This is all YOUR fault. If you had said what you thought about the situation, she could have made an educated decision, which is to wear proper winter footwear in the winter or be considered an idiot. She could still wear her “cute”, trendy, “shoes” to your hangout, but she’d already know how you’re going to perceive her if she does.

Relationships

And then, people want to claim to be in relationships with each other when neither one brings what they’re honestly thinking to the table. How can you possibly believe you’re in a relationship with someone that isn’t willing to authentically communicate with you?

Gal: Are you ******* any other women?
Guy (PC): Nope.
Guy (Reality): At least 14.. Mostly waitresses, but some of them paid professionals

Guy: Are you dating me for my money?
Gal (PC): Nope
Gal (Reality): If this mother****** goes broke, I’m SWAYZE! [For the slang-impaired.. Swayze means "Leaving" because Patrick Swayze starred in a movie called "Ghost", therefore, "I'm Swayze" => "I'm Ghost" => "You can't see me" => "I left (am leaving)"]

Negroes

A while back, some politician got in trouble for using the term Negro. There were other philosophical reasons people were upset at him, but focusing on the terminology, the dude that said that was at least 9,000 years old. When he was coming up, “Negro” was probably the CURRENTLY-ACCEPTABLE TERM. He probably said something different back when he was a kid and Moses corrected him just before he parted the Red Sea.

I think this is my major issue with PC stuff. You’re asking people to adopt an entirely new set of words that you’ve either co-opted or made up out of thin air and if they don’t get with the program, you jump up and down on them. Just because YOU decided something’s right, or even THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE decided something’s right (e.g. Nazi Germany) doesn’t mean that everyone on the planet has to agree with you and fall in line.

I use the term “chicks” a lot.. A LOT. :) If you don’t like it, it sucks to be you. Sometimes, I say “women”, which basically translates to “older chicks” and sometimes, I say “girls” which translates to “younger chicks”, but it’s all the same to me. Sometimes, I say “ladies” or “gals”, but if I’m flowin’ live and we’re discussing relationships IRL over some brews, any time I need to express “female of the species”, I’m 99.687% likely to say “chicks”.

I don’t give a flying **** whether the country decides to adopt “Women” and “Young Women” as the only two categories for females. **** You. I’m not interested. Save it for David. When I mention “Negroes”, I say “Black”. That’s what I grew up with and where my mind naturally goes. “African-American” doesn’t make any sense to me. I’ve been blogging for four years now and there’s only one instance of that term on my site, which comes from A QUOTE that I pulled from a friend’s site when I was writing an article based on her article. I don’t use the term, personally. Any time I hear it, I mentally translate it to “Black”.

Inauthentic Communication

I think the basic danger of PC-Speak is that it’s a cover. It’s a front. It’s not what you’d say to a close friend of yours who understands you and how you think. This lulls people into a false sense of security because they actually BELIEVE that other people believe what they’re saying and then Act As If everyone’s on the same page.

I block out [most]curses when I blog. This is because I have no control over my audience. Most of my traffic comes from Google searches, and it could be kids or grandmothers or whatever, so I keep the language middle-of-the-road unless I need to curse to express myself correctly. Meanwhile, people that actually hang out with me know that any sentence I say might include a gratuitous curse word. :D haha Instead of “What an idiot”, I just really enjoy saying “What a ******* idiot!”.

It actually works in reverse as well. As soon as you’re willing to go against the grain, people assume that that’s the experience they’re going to receive when they hang out with you in person. When chicks read articles where dudes call chicks “chicks”, they get all feminist about it and go “Incorrigible! I’d *NEVER* date HIM! :(“, which always becomes “Famous Last Words” when they meet The Kid in person and realize that the IRL experience is different from the text experience. ;)

Anyway… It’s completely retarded. Whether you call someone “Commitment-Challenged” or “A Player” we STILL know what you’re talking about. I’m not “Vertically Challenged”. There’s no challenge. I won’t be getting any taller than 5’9″ :D If I’m short to you, that’s just my lousy luck.

Meanwhile, your height advantage won’t help you prevent me from borrowing your girlfriend.

My first contribution is this video I made in March, 2008 which shows how to scene-match video footage using filters in Final Cut Pro. I figured I’d bring it back since the election’s so close, and it reminds me of how different things were back in March, before the Democrats or Republicans had selected their representatives and before their representatives had selected their running mates.

It’s been interesting. Let’s see what happens on the 4th! :D
