“OMG STFU” stands for Oh my God… Shut The **** UP!!! :(

This is how you feel when someone runs their mouth about something they shouldn’t have.

I saw this video on one of my Facebook Friends‘ walls just now:

First of all, I’d like to say that this isn’t a Male -> Female thing. This goes in both directions. I’m talking about relationships and interactions between people in general, not something specifically about women.

In the video, this dude is being interviewed by video paparazzi and his wife is standing next to him.

*NOBODY* is talking to his wife.

*NOBODY* asks his wife any questions.

The paparazzo asks the dude whether he puts his own posters on the walls (which is probably illegal, yet also probably an aspect of this guy’s “street cred” persona).

Unfortunately for him, he feels comfortable taking a sip of his drink right after the dude asks him the question, so for SOME. ODD. REASON… His wife.. Whom *NOBODY* was speaking to AT ALL (The question was “Do you ever do that, yourself?”, indicating that the paparazzo was speaking TO the guy he was interviewing) goes:

“A long time ago.”

*Needle scratching on record sound*

OMG STFU

Now.. This was a clear and egregious violation by his wife.

Unless dude had hired her as his Public Relations Agent (which, clearly, he didn’t, by his reaction to her statement and her reaction to his reaction) she needs to STFU and mind her own business when he’s talking to the press.

Before y’all females start hopping up and down, protesting, let’s consider if the paparazzi had been interviewing HER! o_O

Paparazzo: “So, [wife's name]… How’s your sex life?”
Wife: *Takes a sip of her drink*
Husband: “Well… She has a really nice ass, see… You can’t tell, because of the baggy jeans she wears, but it’s really sweet, so I like to hit it from the back, which used to give her rug burns on her knees, so we bought this special carpet for the living room floor, because I rarely **** her in an actual bed, and…”
Wife: “OMG!!! STFU!!! :(“

Not so cool for someone to jump into a conversation that didn’t involve them *NOW*, is it? >:D

So the next thing that happens is that the drone media dude says that the husband “freaks out”, so I’m expecting him to FLIP on her, right?… This is what happened:

Husband: “Wha… What are you do… Don’t answer stuff… please.”
Wife: “ok.”
Husband: “JESUS! :/”
Wife: “…”
Husband: “What is your problem? :/ You’re not stupid.”
Wife: (to paparazzo) “No.. We can’t.. Really…”

Now, that was nowhere near a “freak out”, especially considering her violation of putting his personal business in the streets.

I do have to say, however.. That this was partially.. In fact, *MOSTLY* his fault.

If you have a social media image to maintain, it’s YOUR JOB to make sure that your inner circle is properly briefed and ready, willing and able to do the right thing when the time comes. He obviously didn’t prep his wife properly, so he got what he got. She ran her mouth, and he ended up on TMZ.

After she’s already screwed up is *NOT* the time to discuss her screwup. Prevention.. Not Cure. There *IS* no cure. Prevention negates the necessity for a cure.

If someone’s asking about me, you have no information. Your response is “You’re going to have to ask HIM about that”. You don’t have to lie and say you don’t know. It’s MY business, not YOURS. Stay out of it by not participating in discussions about me.

Simultaneously, you receive the same basic and proper courtesy from me. I’m not going to put your business in the street. If you don’t put your own posters up around the city or you don’t write your own blog posts or you like doggie-style except for the rug burns, that’s *YOUR* business. It’s not MY business to tell.

Play Your Position

Of course, the drone media chick goes “That’s a ____ move, anyway, to do that to your wife in front of cameras. You don’t admonish her on a national level.. That’s awful! :(”

Can we get a sound bite about how she told on him for not putting up his own posters ON A NATIONAL LEVEL, which is why she got TOLD THE **** OFF? o_O

I personally wouldn’t have done it the way he did it, however I’ve never *HAD* TO do it like that, because chicks that know me are hip to the Cones of Silence, and they wouldn’t put my personal business out there to begin with.

Edit: There WAS one situation where I got caught out there like this, when I was hanging out with a new chick, and I didn’t expect anything interesting to happen while she was around, so I failed to inform her that all the pictures she was taking would need to go through an approval process before being posted.

I always check with people on the spot when we take pictures together to make sure everyone likes how they look, and if anybody disapproves, we take more pictures until we get it right.

So, when she posted them the next morning, I had to hustle and tell her to IXNAY on the ICSPAY because the situation had evolved from a General Audiences rating to personal, off-the-record interaction, and I hadn’t explained #NOBLOG to her yet. >:D

What he SHOULD have done is whispered all that stuff in her ear, so she understood to STFU and not spill any more beans or tip any more waiters. If I didn’t tell you to tell somebody something, keep it to yourself. If it’s your business, and it has nothing to do with me, scream it from the highest social media mountaintop! :D

If nobody’s talking to you, play your position.

This isn’t “Jeopardy”. This isn’t “Wheel of Fortune”. This isn’t “Press Your Luck”. You don’t get any points for answering trivia questions about me.

If someone asks me “Do you know a chick named Lux? o_O”, let me answer or not answer my own damned question! :D .. It’s nor your job to go “Oh yeah!.. He knows Lux! :D .. They were hanging out together at the 2011 blip.tv & Collective Digital Studio Party and she appears in his Facebook Avatars from time to time, and there are a bunch of pictures of them together over the last four years, including a rooftop pool party back in 2007!!! :D”

Mind. Your. Own. Business!!! :D

If I feel like saying I know Lux and she’s given me permission to say that I know her, then *I’M* going to decide how to answer that question.. Not you.

#NOBLOG Status

I discussed this in last year’s “#NOBLOG Status” article.

The Phrase That Pays is “Pics.. Or It Didn’t Happen.”

The converse, of course, being to deliberately NOT publicize something via social media because it’s not for public consumption.

It’s my opinion that without #NOBLOG, people would never really get to know each other on a deep and important level.

If I have to worry about you runnin’ yo mouf as soon as TMZ shows up, or even worse, I can expect for you to put my business on BLAST to our 200 mutual Facebook Friends, I’m not TELLING YOU anything important at all, and I’m CERTAINLY NOT going to be *DOING* anything with you! :D

This is why it’s dude’s fault for not properly prepping his wife about what she’s allowed to talk about and what she’s not allowed to talk about.

By the time you select a chick to be your wife……. By the time you select a chick to be your girlfriend or even a close platonic friend, she’s got to be down for you and you’ve got to be down for her. It’s that simple.

If you know that it’s important to your public image for you to be perceived as someone that puts his own posters up, you tell your wife in private (hopefully, not right after you finished hittin’ that, because her brain isn’t working properly and won’t absorb the information correctly) that if anybody asks if you put up your own posters, the answer is “YES!”.

If she’s not smart enough to remember that or she’s not willing to back your play, then you LIE TO HER every once in a while, grab a bunch of posters, and walk out the door, saying “I’ll be back in a few hours, honey… I’m heading out to plaster my own posters all over the city… Don’t wait up! :D” and then you go hang out with the fellaz or your other girlfriends or whatever you have going on in your life, so when the paparazzi ask YOU about it and you go for a sip of your soda, she blurts out THE RIGHT THING instead of THE WRONG THING (read: The Truth).

If you can’t be trusted to keep your mouth shut, you’re only going to receive the same information the general public receives. If you refuse to respect #NOBLOG, you won’t be invited to the next event.

If you’re not smart enough to recognize that someone’s talking TO ME and not TO YOU, then you won’t be walked around with.. Capisce? >:D

I mean.. Say what you want about Arnold’s Maid, but she held the line for 14 YEARS, SUNNN!!! :D hahaha Now *THAT’S* some SECRET-KEEPING!!! >:D

How To Clown Yourself

Make no mistake. This is not a post about how to CLONE yourself, but rather how to CLOWN yourself. Some guy caught feelin’s over what President Obama said in a speech the other night and screamed out “YOU LIE” while the President of The United States Of America was speaking. hahahahaha umâ€¦ WHAT? hahahahahaha :D

Now.. The Kid don’t care about politics AT. ALL. Not AT ALL! :D However, are several lessons to be learned here.

Hold Your Head

First of all, what you want to do in any situation, especially a situation where you’re in public, especially a situation when you’re around people you do business with, especially in a situation where you’re around your superiors, especially when you were PRIVILEGED enough to be sitting in the same room with the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, hahaha you don’t want to forget who you are and what your station is in life.

If you’re a member of the House of Representatives and the President is talking, STFU.

If you’re a Private in the armed forces, and a General is talking, STFU.

If you’re an employee and the CEO is talking, STFU.

This is known as RESPECT. If people begin to believe that you don’t know how to respect your superiors, you will be shunned. Beleedat. Your superiors will see you as an insubordinate. Your peers will see you as a liability. Nobody wants to be the man next to the man that can’t control himself. Nobody wants to suffer guilt by association.

If you were selected for or elected to a position of privilege, it’s because people believed that you could handle the pressure. People believed that you could do the business without becoming so emotionally wrapped up in the situation that you lose your cool and make your whole team look like JERKS. If you let it slip that you aren’t able to handle that responsibility, you will receive Das Bootâ€¦ Quick, Fast, In A Hurry, Flava’s Vision Ain’t Blurry.

Mob Mentality

Also, don’t play yourself by aligning yourself with people that will murmur when they’re in a crowd of murmurers, but will STFU when it comes to individually expressing their opinions. There’s nothing wrong with (or illegal about) thinking that the POTUS is lying to you. There’s something wrong with you running your mouth when nobody offered you a chance to speak. There’s something wrong with you challenging someone you don’t have the authority or rank to challenge. Regardless of how many people agree with what you said, they STILL wouldn’t have done what you did. To them, that’s what separates them from the savages and you just marked yourself as a savage.

A lot of people go out like suckers in this fashion. They feel like because everyone else is hooting and hollering and saying stuff under their breaths that they wouldn’t dare say out loud, in public, in a business environment, in the presence of their superiors and ON VIDEOTAPE, SO THE WORLD CAN CHECK IT OUT ON YOUTUBE that if they scream out something that they know that they and their team believe that their team is going to back their play.

Nope.

Your team will back your play as long as you play your position. If you’re a benchwarmer, you don’t get to substitute yourself into the game for the star running back. You don’t get to request the ball for the last shot instead of Michael Jordan. You don’t get to tell Tiger Woods how he should putt. You get to STFU and be happy that people think you’re up to the challenge of being in the game without being the best player. If you want to scream on people, get elected President so EVERYBODY ELSE needs to STFU when YOU’RE speaking.

Damage Control

Next thing you know, your boys give you a SHELLACKING for making them look uncivilized. That’s the point here. It’s not that they disagree with you.. It’s that you expressed yourself like a savage and made EVERYONE ON YOUR TEAM look bad so they send you out to the reporters so you can fall on your sword with some statement like:

“Well, I, uhâ€¦ Last night, uh, heard from the leadership that they, uh, wanted me to contact The White House, uh, and state that, UHHHHHHH, my, uh, statements, uh, were inappropriate. I did. I’m very grateful, uh, that The White House, in talking with them, uh, they indicated that, uh, they appreciated the call, and that we needed to have a civil discussion about the Health Care issues, and I certainly agree with that.”

UMMMMMâ€¦. NO. #*$&%^@. DUH! Are you kidding me? What?â€¦ NOW, you feel like you agree that you need to have a civil discussion instead of BLURTING OUT HOW YOU FEEL when The President of the United States of America is speaking? :D HAHAHAHAHA oh. nice.

This is known as Damage Control. You’ve already made yourself a laughing stock and a poster boy for your entire team. You’re like that chick that gave it up and then fell in love when the dude was on to the next chick already and forgot what your name isâ€¦ IF he had ever asked you in the first place. Discretion is the better part of valor. There’s a reason why these pundits go on television and disagree with each other and make sure they show a big toothy grin when they’re finished. It’s all part of the game. The reason you made it to the position you made it to was because people felt like you understood the game and could handle it. NOW, your job is going to be HANDLING taking all the blame yourself so the rest of your team can try to play you off like keyboard cat.

Insult To Injury

Next, you get to look like even MORE OF A CHUMP when the guy you interrupted with your outburst calmly, rationally and intelligently accepts your apology:

See what happened to you? He didn’t even need to address what you said. Now you look small, and it sounds like you FEEL small by the way your voice was cracking when you were trying to memorize and regurgitate that fake apology like Chris Brown.

Nobody wants to hear about “The Heat Of The Moment”. Nobody wants to hear that you were acting spontaneously. You are not a freestyle rapper. You don’t get your money from record labels. You get your money for ACTING CIVILLY and FOLLOWING THE RULES. If you can’t do that, someone else will be sitting in your seat after the next election/selection period.

The Point

The point is that once you achieve a certain level in society or business, you can’t afford to act “common”. You can’t afford to throw popcorn at the television. You can’t afford to throw shoes at Presidents. You can’t afford to get caught up in your emotions when you’re supposed to be sitting still and SHUTTING THE %&$^ UP when your superior is speaking.

If you can’t follow the rules, you get demoted or ejected. There are lots of avenues available to you to express your opinion in a civil fashion. It’s not like this is your ONE CHANCE TO SPEAK, when you’re sitting in a crowd of hundreds of people that are following the rules. It’s bad enough when the General asks for a volunteer and you don’t step forward but everyone else steps back so you get caught out there. It’s even worse when you call attention to yourself, not for your beliefs but for the fact that you weren’t able to control yourself, which makes you look bad, makes your teammate next to you look bad, and makes YOUR SUPERIORS on your team look bad when they’re trying everything they can to make it look like they deserve to sit at the grown-ups table instead of the kiddie table.

Play your position and your team will back your play. Strike out going for a Home Run when they told you to Bunt, and you’re going to find yourself on the bench, traded to another Major League team or demoted to the minors.

A Woman’s Place…

hahahaha No, No, No, “A Woman’s Place” is NOT in the kitchen, and certainly GOD FORBID, PREGNANT! :D

“A Woman’s Place” is wherever she wants it to be. :) ….. Unfortunately, women need to be REALISTIC about the responsibilities they’re taking on if they choose to be the leader of the pack, or at least the relationship. In this age of shows like “Oprah” and (I hate to even mention) “Dr. Phil”, women’s heads are getting gassed up to the point that they actually believe their own hype and set themselves up for a sobering confrontation with reality.

I’m thinking about this because the other day, I was out with some friends, and I was trying to explain something, which ended up with me giving several examples of situations where it was extremely important that the woman listen to her man. My friend’s response was “ok… So you’re saying a woman needs to know her place”. I realized that I wasn’t explaining my position to her properly, so I started over and explained it in more general terms.

In any situation, whether it’s relationships or business, the STRONGEST person needs to be the leader. Period. Not necessarily PHYSICALLY stronger… Mentally stronger. Stronger in that particular field. Better rolodex. More influence. Faster at the same process. More gregarious. Whatever it is, it’s RETARDED to have “stronger” people following the lead of “weaker” people, in any case.

If you have a star quarterback, you don’t bench him for the third-string QB. You COULD… if you really wanted to, but since your goal is to WIN THE GAME, you want the best players front and center.

This is the point I was really trying to make… Not that the female should always follow the male, but that the “weaker” should always follow the “stronger” or the inferior should follow the superior. Privates don’t tell Generals what to do in the Army.

So the real question is, which one of you is “stronger” in the relationship? What about particular aspects of the relationship? If the guy makes more money and the gal is better at saving and investing it… everybody play your position and things will work out for the best. OTOH, if you INSIST on saying what happens with the money, because YOU brought it into the house, you’re an IDIOT if you know she can do it better than you.

Of course, all these things depend on being able to see reality and not falling prey to the illusions that you’re building your self-esteem on. If you believe that because you’re the guy, you’re automatically smarter and stronger and better, you might not be able to appreciate that your girl trumps you in certain areas, and you won’t have the most efficient relationship, because you’ll stifle her creativity when she comes up with ideas that you think are stupid, just becase YOU can’t comprehend what she’s saying. For women, I find in a lot of cases, they believe they can PHYSICALLY do things just because they can see themselves doing it in their mind’s eye. That’s REALLY, REALLY DANGEROUS for them, especially when coupled with the illusion that a man’s never going to hit a woman, so she can run off at the mouth and break bad all she wants without consequences and repercussions.

This is what led to a woman getting shot to death for saying “What are you going to do? Shoot us?” to some criminal that had already hit her boyfriend in the head with a gun.

I’ve seen this mentality lots of times, personally. I was talking to a female friend of mine who was dating this guy I knew. She was telling me about some aspect of their relationship she didn’t like, and then started telling me how she’d punch him in his face or smack him or beat him up or whatever ABSOLUTE NONSENSE she was spewing. Now, I know that when he was around her, he liked to play that “Romeo” role and be all nice and sweet, hahaha but I ALSO happened to know that he had had fights against SEVERAL. MEN. SIMULTANEOUSLY. Now, that’s not something that you mention to a chick you’re trying to have sex with (unless she’s into that Braveheart / Gladiator stuff), so she was probably oblivious to the fact that laying hands on him would have been EXTREMELY DANGEROUS for her and the only reason she wouldn’t get her ass KICKED is if HE *CHOSE* not to kick it.

These delusions are easily handled within a relationship, because if you know damned well she’s just running her mouth and isn’t actually going to hit you, it’s no big deal… you just ignore her, like usual. However, you can’t afford for her to start breaking bad to other dudes, thereby initiating unnecessary beefs that SHE isn’t going to be called upon to handle.

This is what brings us back to “A Woman’s Place”…

“A Woman’s Place” is wherever she wants it to be. If she’s the type of person to start problems, let her be the type of person to HANDLE those same problems. How many times have you seen women cause fights between men? Uh-Huh. Nope! :D Next time she jumps up in some dude’s face, let her throw the hands with him. You sit back with the popcorn and make sure nobody else jumps in if she gets the upper hand and starts mopping the floor with him.

Yes. I know. This is ENTIRELY unrealistic, because you will be immediately DUMPED right after the fight, hahaha. This is why guys go for this bullshit, because they’d rather be beaten up and get blown later than NOT get beaten up and NOT have a girl at the end of the day. :/

This is why the solution is not to TELL women what their place is, but to make sure you’re dating women who have a REALISTIC UNDERSTANDING of what their place is… and yours too…

Because if your girl can kick your ass, then you MIGHT wanna consider brushing up on your cooking lessons so you can make sure you have that DINNER on the table when she gets home from work! :D

Pecking Order / Play Your Position

Guys don’t like to follow the rules when they try to meet girls in a group. There’s a pecking order which has been automatically determined by the individual characteristics of each of the guys YOU chose to hang out with on this particular run. Whether you know it or not, what’s going to happen for you this evening is not just LUCK, but it’s also a function of the ‘team’ you’ve assembled. TEAM is in quotes, because it’s usually actually a motley crew, and there’s really no TEAMWORK involved in the entire evening. My suggestion is that you a) Figure out your standing amongst your homeboys, b) Play Your Position and c) Act Like You Know! :D

Wikipedia has this to say about Dominance Hierarchies:

A dominance hierarchy or social hierarchy is an organizational form by which individuals within a community control the distribution of resources within the community. Dominance hierarchies are formed when a group of individuals belonging to the same species share a territory.

Dominance hierarchies can be despotic or linear. In a despotic hierarchy, one individual controls all the other individuals. In a linear hierarchy, of which the classic example of pecking order in hens is often cited, each individual has a rank in the hierarchy.

Dominance hierarchies occur in most social animal species, including primates who normally live in groups. Dominance hierarchies have been extensively studied in fish, birds, and mammals. Dominance hierarchies can be simple linear structures, which often arise from the physical differences among individuals in a group in relation to their access to resources. Like I said, the dominance hierarchy is set up automatically. It’s merely the difference between who YOU are, and who the guy next to you is. You don’t have to agree to it or even LIKE it. It’s a fact. Forget about the guys you don’t even know that are going to be there… Depending on whom you hang out with, you might be bringing your worst competition WITH YOU to the party. :D This is why the intelligent group knows who the top dogs are and acts accordingly.

While this article’s mainly for the fellaz, it applies to the chicks also. If you *INSIST* on hanging out with girls magnitudes more physically attractive than you are, do NOT expect to be the first chick rapped to when you meet a bunch of guys… EVAR! :D Life isn’t fair. It’s not HER TURN this week and YOUR TURN next week, hahaha it’s ALWAYS *HER* turn. Recognize… and Act Like You Know. :)

Your social life will be much better when you realize and accept your position in the crew. You can stop banging your head against brick walls and ease back and enjoy the perks of NOT being the team leader. Your role is support. You’re there to assist the team leader in MAKING IT HAPPEN! What you are *NOT* there to do is battle with the top dog(s) for girls you will never pull over them in the first place.

The way we live in the USA, and especially in New York City, everybody wants the best of everything. This leads to massive amounts of competition. Kickin’ it to chicks is no exception. Every gal you meet has a specific set of likes and dislikes she’s consciously or subconsciously operating from. Off the bat, you’re at an advantage or disadvantage compared to the next man. Does that mean you CAN’T get the rap if you start out on the losing end? Hellz Naw! :D You’ll be in a much better position to operate if you recognize the game and play it where it lays.

You lose if:

She likes taller guys and you’re shorter
She likes athletic guys and you’re out of shape
She likes rich guys and you’re broke
She likes original guys and you’re derivative
She likes smart guys and you’re an idiot
She likes funny guys and your jokes are dry as hell
He’s driving a Caddy, you’re fixin’ a Ford

You get the picture. Now if the guy trumping you isn’t a friend of yours, you’re in for a loooooong night if you still insist on trying to pull that female. If he IS your friend, then all you need is some strategy. Unfortunately for you, not being the top dog, that “strategy” might mean you don’t get the rap to that chick AT.ALL! haha However, for playing your position and facilitating the rap of the team leader, you will receive perks… trickle-down… the extra chicks that flock to the team leader, but can’t kick it to him because their girl is trying to get on! :D

Sometimes, trickle-down is the BEST THING EVER!!! Sometimes, the hottest chicks aren’t there yet when you and your crew arrive. As soon as the team leaders choose ladies to rap to, they’re locked in. When that better-looking homegirl shows up, the leaders have to “eat that” and introduce them to the guys that have been holding off the cockblockers for them. hahahahaha CHA-CHING!!! $$$$$ :D

If you refuse to play your position and take what you can get, you make things tougher for ALL of your friends to get on. Sure, healthy competition’s good when you first walk in the door, but when you see she’s digging your friend, step to the left and let him get some light. When you see that extra chick eyeballing his conversation, take one for the team and go over there and distract her. Meanwhile, the team leader will see if the gal he’s talking to has a hawt sister or cousin available for you.

The Kid learned this lesson the hard way one day, hahaha. About five of us had descended upon these chicks in a McDonald’s, and I was probably 4th on the totem pole, meaning second from the LAST GUY that should have gotten a rap from those chicks, hahaha. IIRC, the top three guys rolled up on the same girl, or maybe two girls and I had a clear shot to this other one, so I sat down and started saying whatever garbage was in my repertoire at the time.

All of a sudden, from over my left shoulder, MY WORST NIGHTMARE APPEARS, the #1!… Boom! He sits down and starts talking to this chick that I was OOOOOBVIOUSLY talking to solo and her attention disappeared from me, immediately! It was like somebody activated “The Cones of Silence” or like I had disappeared or something. I couldn’t BELIEVE it. I was sooooo mad! :D

However, upon tactical discussion after the fact, it became clear to me that a) I hadn’t physically imposed myself upon her position enough for it to look like I was doing anything other than distracting her from the main rap, as the wingman’s *supposed* to do, and b) Just because I got there first didn’t mean she wanted to talk to ME more than the team leader, so the fact that she was so easily distracted meant that I should have just played my position and given him room to operate.

OTOH, sometimes, it’s just The Kid’s day, and there’s nothing anybody can do to stop the bum rush! :D If it’s ON, it’s ON… Which is why I can write stuff like this all year ’round, and I’ll STILL have more female friends than most of y’all have family members! :D

Anyway… It’s a tough pill to swallow, but trust & believe, it’s in your best interest. Assess your situation, go for what you want, but make sure you have contingency plans.
