People Have To Know Who You Are

I just became aware of the latest scandal involving an internet bigwig. Some people who used to hang out with this dude ALL THE TIME are now saying “I knew he was a creep for a long time” and/or “I heard horrific rumors about him for a long time”.

I find this situation funny, yet educational, for a few reasons. One of them is that the people that “heard rumors” didn’t say JACK **** until this dude was publicly called out for his rumored behavior, way after the fact of when the situations actually occured, and with, so far, zero evidence of anything occurring at all, other than the word of this guy’s ex-girlfriend, who happens to be his accuser.

What’s funny about that is that by speaking up NOW, you highlight that you FAILED TO or REFUSED to speak up between when you heard these rumors and when the public allegations surfaced = not fly. Continue reading “People Have To Know Who You Are”

How You Feel Doesn’t Matter

Let’s say I tell you the grass is green, and you don’t like the fact that the grass is green… Your NOT LIKING the fact that the grass is green doesn’t change the color of the grass.

Here’s the deal. There are two things going on right now.. There’s:

a) What’s happening, and

b) How you feel about what’s happening.

If you’re not able to separate the two, you’re screwed, because your perception doesn’t necessarily match up with anyone else’s reality. Continue reading “How You Feel Doesn’t Matter”

Who’s Harsher, Who’s Harsh?

A reader told me yesterday that she felt a a post of mine was harsh.

In a way, I agreed with her.

In a way, I didn’t.

Dream On

Unfortunately, in life, sometimes the facts of the matter are jarring, hard to hear, and/or unpleasant to consider. This doesn’t make any of these facts less true. What you feel about them doesn’t matter at all. It doesn’t change the situation. Continue reading “Who’s Harsher, Who’s Harsh?”

Shocking Dating Advice!

A friend of mine told me my dating posts are sometimes shocking to her. ๐Ÿ˜€

This is a good thing… You can either feel shocked now or feel shocked later when/if something happens to you in the future. Continue reading “Shocking Dating Advice!”

Who Do You Love?

Bill CammackI don’t talk about myself much in my blog posts because most people would neither believe nor understand what I had to say.

Meanwhile, lots of people that actually know me as a person and have hung out with me in the trenches have seen The Kid in action, anywhere from hooking up with chicks that they know damned well I only became aware of for the first time in life a couple of hours before, all the way to making out with bona fide butch-type lesbians. Honesty, Respect & Apologies in Relationships

A lot of people seriously overestimate the amount of influence they have in their relationships. This is because they don’t understand how and why they were selected by their significant other in the first place. Continue reading “Honesty, Respect & Apologies in Relationships”

*Actual* Anatomy of a First Date (Guy’s Version)

So I’m reading TheDiva Rockin‘s blog post where she outlines how she would like a first date with a guy to evolve. I found her concepts to be interesting and reasonable from the female side of things. Let’s see how the exact same date scenario evolved for the guy….. >:D

TheDiva: The following are the steps which I would ideally like a guy to follow leading up to a first date. In some cases I have skipped over a step here and there or added in a few, but over all I think this is a fair and appropriate execution:

Step One: “Guy finds interest in my profile (on one of the various sites I am a member of) and messages me with a competent and interesting introduction.”

Actual Step One: Guy browses online dating site in grid mode so he can fit 40 chicks on a page instead of 10 and also he gets to save the time of consciously skipping over whatever nonsense she wrote about herself in order to see the next chick’s picture. Ladies: Flaunt Your Accomplishments!

Bill CammackNow.. I hate to pub BET (Black Entertainment Television) *AT* *ALL*, because it’s straight GARBAGE and a complete waste of immense potential as far as giving “minorities” light on a basically National televison stage… but there’s a lesson here for the ladies, so I’ll let it slide for now.

So, I’m minding my business the other day and all of these people are Twittering about the BET Awards that were going on right that minute. Stuff about how Soldier Boy (or however he misspelled it) should have been restricted to lip sync, because he can’t hit his notes, and how the censors missed cutting the audio when someone said “Dancin’ and ****”.

So, I decide to tune in to this disaster, and I see a very classy performance by Maxwell followed by some raunchy rap garbage that basically had every third word cut out by the censor, who, at that point was probably fearful of losing his/her job (and VERY rightfully so) to close out the show. Hopefully, the programming director got fired along with the censor for having NO TASTE WHATSOEVER… but that’s not the point. ๐Ÿ˜€

I had the DVR running, so, as usual, I was Fast-Forwarding all of the commercials. However, there was one commercial that they kept running and eventually, I decided to back up and watch it. It was for this upcoming BET show called “Tiny & Toya”.

Tiny & Toya

So, it’s not relevant *WHY* I decided to finally watch this commercial, hahaha ๐Ÿ˜‰ but I did. So you see a couple of typical BET-looking chicks on the screen and then they start talking in sound bites…. Actually, someone uploaded the video to YouTube, so watch it for yourself: Continue reading “Ladies: Flaunt Your Accomplishments!”

Are You Still Relevant? [Part 2 of 2]

The point I was leading towards in “Are You Still Relevant? [Part 1 of 2]” is that *your* perception of yourself isn’t necessarily the same as anyone else’s. Also, if a lot of people perceive you in a certain fashion, that doesn’t make it the truth.

I will attempt to clarify, hahaha ๐Ÿ˜€

Technology is changing. The way people relate to each other is changing. Back in the day, people used to send letters by Pony Express or on the train or on ships that would travel from America to Europe. Eventually, they were using telegraphs & telephones. Eventually portable phones. Eventually pagers, then text messaging and now smartphones. People used DOS, then Windows, then Mac OS. People programmed with ADA, C++, Visual Basic…..

Just because you composed incredible letters that you mailed to your loved one doesn’t mean you can kick that live, today over the phone. Just because you were a genius at database programming 15 years ago doesn’t mean you know A SINGLE THING about Twitter. Just because I was involved in live streaming three years ago doesn’t mean I know anything about it TODAY:

Jonny Goldstein & Bre Pettis – October, 2006

The way I’ve seen things happen… A LOT, in Social Media is that someone does ONE THING… *EVAR* IN LIFE, and from that point on, they’re declared relevant. Their opinions on totally unrelated things are heralded because they invented something ONCE, or they wrote ONE really popular blog post or book or they worked for ONE company that everyone was jocking at the time. After that, there’s no need to look at that person’s track record.. It’s like they made it into the hall of fame. Continue reading “Are You Still Relevant? [Part 2 of 2]”
