Vinny

As the sole Italian-speaker in the house, I was expecting more production from Vinny. He’s been striking out like a pitcher without a pinch-hitter ever since this season began (according to the edit).

I have to get ahead of the story to say that his only relevant storylines this week had to do with Deena.

Deena got this Italian guy she had met at a restaurant to come home with her after partying at the club.

Instead of taking him to the designated room where the housemates are supposed to take their guests to have sex with them, she decides to start making out with the dude on her bed, which is in the room she shares with Pauly and Vinny.

Vinny starts rightfully complaining that she should take the dude to the sex room, and instead of doing that, Deena leaves her guest in the bedroom to come argue with Vinny.

In another situation, Deena brings this chick home that she had been making out with at the club, and when she leaves the room to get something to eat, the chick climbs in bed with Vinny and starts kissing him or whatever they were doing under the covers.

When Deena returns, not only does she pull the covers off of the chick and Vinny, but she retrieves the chick to get back in bed with her. This was one of the strangest things I’ve ever seen on Jersey Shore. :D

Deena

As I’ve been saying since the first episode where they introduced Deena as the new housemate, she’s the wildcard. If Deena’s around, anything’s possible. She drinks until she can’t stand up, walk or dance without bussin’ her ass and falling on her face. She comes on to anything that appears to be human, or at least moving. It’s just really, honestly, anything goes. :D

She pressed up on Pauly, and even though he let her kiss him in the club, he’s avoided her like the actual plague for the rest of the season, so far.

Last season, she threw it at Mike, and he didn’t want it.

She bags an Italian waiter from a restaurant, gets him to come to a club with her, makes out with him at the club, and then on the way home in the cab, she asks him what the Italian word for “easy” is, so she can tell him that she’s not an easy girl. She says this line every time she’s about to give it up to a guy. It’s ridiculous.

This is what I mean about how people pretend to believe what women say, such as “I’m not easy” and “I’m not going to have sex with you tonight”, and then, the next morning, when they say “I didn’t have sex with him last night”. Nobody believes you. It’s just more of a hassle and leads to way longer and unnecessary conversations if we don’t play along, so we do.

So she gets in the argument with Vinny about messing with the guy in their bedroom instead of the sex room. She says something like “I’m not going to **** him, I’m just going to kiss him and cuddle with him” (“cuddle” being a typical female excuse to explain what she was doing under the covers with a guy, in order to support the next morning’s lies), which causes [I believe] Pauly to say “So stop wasting his time, then!”

This is one of the problems that you run into when women usually lie to you about what they’re doing, what they’re about to do, or what they did in the past. You get into conversations that don’t make sense.

If she’s going to have sex with him, she should take him to the sex room. If she’s *NOT* going to have sex with him, she should take him somewhere other than the bedroom she shares with Pauly & Vinny. Either way, she’s violating by having this dude in their room.

If Pauly or Vinny go “oh PLEASE, Deena, we know you’re going to give him some”, it’s gonna be a big argument. If they pretend to believe that she invited this dude out, made out with him at the club, rubbed her ass all over tha dilznick like she loves to do, and then brought him home in the cab so she could “cuddle”, they look stupid, while simultaneously acting as enablers, supporting her lying-ass lifestyle, and encouraging her to continue her normal Modus Operandi.

The next time they hit the club, Mike Snitchuation is about to bag a set of twins when drunk-ass Deena steps to one of the girls, pulls her away from Mike and starts making out with her. \o/ This is the chick that Deena ends up bringing home, leaving in the room with Vinny and then retrieving from under Vinny’s covers when she returns to the room.

While it’s clear that Deena is omnisexual, MTV bothered to show confessionals where she claims she’s not a lesbian. I find it funny/ridiculous how people in the year 2011 still attempt to define themselves verbally instead of by their actual actions.

Call it whatever you want.. If you’re a chick that likes to make out with chicks, you’re a chick that likes to make out with chicks. It’s all on videotape. You can’t explain and define your way out of it.

Anyway.. Deena ends up giving the chick back to Vinny, eventually. So weird. Anyway.. That particular pass-her-around chick was one of the twins that was originally supposed to come home with Mike.

Mike

The reason this episode was called “Twinning” is that it’s a combination between Twins and Winning. You’re Winning because you pulled a chick for the evening, and you’re Twinning because you pulled more than one of them that happen to both be related and born at the same time from the same woman.

This is what was supposed to happen for Mike at the beginning of the episode. He had twins lined up. To be more accurate, and not hand out more props than he’s due.. Mike doesn’t speak Italian. He’s been striking out with Italian chicks as much as Vinny, Pauly & Ronnie have, so as soon as this American gal stepped to him in the club, and agreed to go home with him, I predicted last week that he’s going to keep screwing this same chick until the wheels fall off.

She’s pretty much become Mike’s Ronnie-Sammi relationship, as far as go-to, guaranteed sex.

It just so happens that, as Mike calls her “The most DTF girl I’ve ever met” has a twin sister! >:D

To sweeten the pot, her twin sister claims to be a virgin, which nobody believes, including Nicole, who ends up later in the episode wanting people to believe that she never hooked up with Mike, when a) Nicole drinks like a fish, to the point of finding herself face down in the sand at the beach and screaming “GET THE **** OFFA ME! :O” at the UNIFORMED POLICE that are physically escorting her from the boardwalk to their squad car, b) She’s normally horny and has thrown sex at Vinny (who took it) and countless dudes that are on par with or below Mike’s level of ability to pull chicks (who mostly DIDN’T take it), which indicates that there’s no particular reason why she WOULDN’T have sexed Mike, and c) even though Mike’s a treacherous, gossipy SNITCH, he’s already had several years to make up lies about tappin’ Nicole, so why would he bother to start lying now? o_O

Anyway.. While they’re at the club, this so-called virgin twin chick says that she’s “watched” while her sister hooked up with guys. Sure. Watched. So, Mike’s on his way to bagging both of these chicks and achieving something MTV-worthy for once = Twinning.

So the episode starts out with Mike in the club with is usual American lay and her sister, telling them “I guarantee that I’ll bring you and your sister home”. Mike explains this as his backup plan. This is a smart move. He already has chicks on deck, in case he strikes out with Italian women he can’t speak to because he doesn’t know their language.

He ends up inviting a couple of different chicks to leave with him, but somehow loses them between being inside the club and getting to the door of the cab. This means he needs to use the one telephone they keep giving the Jersey Shore housemates to make his bootie call to the twins. Nicole happened to be on the phone talking to her father, so when she hangs up, Mike’s saying stuff like the only reason he’s calling other girls is because she has a boyfriend now, and he’d rather be with Nicole, blah blah blah and there’s no reaction from Nicole like “What are you talking about?” or “Stop being stupid! You know we’re not going to hook up”. She seems to know exactly why he’s saying that, and she’s not acting AT ALL like a chick that’s never hooked up with him.

So, Mike ends up leaving a message, and the girls don’t get back to him before he goes to sleep. They call incessantly in the morning, leading to Ronnie and Pauly pranking Mike by pretending to be him and inviting the twins over “an hour from now”. The girls happily come to the house and ring the buzzer until Deena intelligently buzzes the door open without asking a) who it is, or b) who they’re there to see. They come on upstairs and go right to Mike’s bedroom, where he’s clearly shocked and amazed to see them. I got quite a few laughs out of his reaction and rewound that part several times. >:D

Vinny sums up what makes that prank so good by saying “Mike never takes girls out on dates, especially in the daytime”.

If you’re new to Jersey Shore, women’s functionality only exists between 1am and 6am.. They’re something to do in between leaving the club and going to sleep that night.

Mike’s MO is to suggest a cab / car service for the chick-du-jour right after he gets some. The daytime is for important things, like hanging out with people he knows and likes.

Watching the guys shuttle females in and out of the house in the wee hours of the morning is what gives the female housemates the impetus to brazenly call these chicks “whores”, even though the female housemates serve the exact same purpose for other guys.

So, this is a great prank, because now, Mike has two decisions. He can either kick them out, like he wants to, and then his go-to-***** won’t be available to him for the rest of his vacation, or he can spend time with them even though he doesn’t want to and try to bag the twinning threesome.

This is where Mike’s glaring lack of game becomes obvious.

Your boys played a trick on you, which culminated in your achieving DTF Twins for free, with no work done by yourself, early in the morning, inside your own house, where you have stockpiled alcoholic beverages… You literally have ALL. DAY. to **** these chicks, and what do you want to do? o_O .. Take them OUT OF YOUR HOUSE to some public location so y’all can eat breakfast?… Suspicious.

No game, whatsoever.

Maybe I missed that chapter in The Player’s Handbook where it says you can only have sex with chicks in the middle of the night, after the club, and while you’re still drunk.

The time of day doesn’t activate or deactivate a female’s functional usefulness.

I find it similarly interesting that given their druthers, not one of the male Jersey Shore housemates would hang out with females on purpose, unless they’ve been targeted for sex.

If MTV hadn’t cast any female housemates, there would be no women on the show at all, except for the scenes where the characters are working at a public establishment, or when they’re at the club, or when their managers/agents allow MTV to air footage of the guys hooking up with chicks and kicking them out ASAP.

This is one of the reasons why Sammi got busted so easily last season in the “Girls Don’t Have Friends That Are Guys” episode… When dudes know that other dudes only spend time with females they’re trying to screw, it’s really tough for her to try to explain their relationship away as being “Just Friends”.

According to the edit, Mike doesn’t hook up with the chicks after breakfast. Next thing you know, the housemates are at the club, and the guys are dancing in a group of guys, like they enjoy doing for some odd reason. As usual, there are no chicks around them at all, other than the housemate females… All of a sudden, the twins arrive, and Mike gets this surprised look on his face, like “Who let females in this club? :O”. When he points the chicks out to Ronnie and Pauly, they have the exact same reaction.

What’s going on here? o_O How come, in the confessionals, Mike’s talking all this bullshit about The Snitchuation does this and that with females, and every time they show up, he acts like he wishes he would have never met them?

They proceed to label these chicks stalkers, yet, MIKE is the one that keeps telling them he’s going to take them home with him. MIKE is the one that keeps ******* the same sister ad infinitum, because he can’t pull any girls in Italy, because he couldn’t pull any girls in Miami either, so why would anyone suspect he can get on overseas? MIKE is the one agreeing to go to breakfast with twins instead of hooking up with them. Why in the world should they *NOT* feel like finding him and coming to party?

On top of that, they get to be on television. On top of that, MTV has a budget for alcohol, so they’re probably drinking for free. Sorry.. You can’t call chicks stalkers that you never told to go the **** away.

So.. Since they arrived at the proper time for female usefulness, the witching hours between being at the club and falling asleep, Mike decides he’s going to hook up a threesome with this chick he’s been incessantly screwing and her supposedly-virginal sister.

Too bad for him, horny-ass Deena was there to make sure she got her professional-grade cockblock on.

Basically, Deena walks up while Mike is holding onto BOTH SISTERS, grabs the supposed virgin and pulls her away from Mike, so she can go dance with her, compliment her, and start making out with her.

Virgin-Sister was way more into kissing Deena than Pauly was, so she ended up getting into the cab with Deena, messing with her when they got home, messing with Vinny, getting pulled away from Vinny by Deena, and then finally returned to Vinny to finish up her night… Rather virginal behavior, actually.

Of course, Mike was upset about losing his threesome, but not upset enough to **** the sister he had left. Instead, he told her to wait for him in his bed and he went to find Nicole and have a leisurely sit-down chat with her about how he’s disappointed that Deena selfishly cockblocked his threesome.

Unfortunately.. This was when Ronnie ratted him out to Jenni, who told Nicole, who flipped on Mike… Of course, this caused Mike to tell Ronnie he was disappointed in him for not keeping a “secret” that was going to be found out anyway because Mike said it while being videotaped for the show.

Eventually, Mike retired to the sex room with his regular girl he’s been hooking up with, while her supposedly-virginal twin was in bed with Vinny, where she had been deposited when Deena was finished with her.

Unfortunately, MTV edited out parts of Deena “committing the robbery” on Mike (stealing a girl from him). I would love to know how in the hell he let that happen. Take Deena to the side when she tries to CB you and tell her to mind her own business and get her own girl(s) for the night.

I can understand why Vinny let Deena retrieve the chick from under his covers, because he didn’t put in any work to get her back to the house, so Mike’s girl’s sister was basically a free gift, because Deena didn’t stay on point.

According to the coming attractions, the housemates are going to sit down and discuss Deena’s reckless drunken cockblocking next episode, so I’ll be looking forward to that.

<g:plusone size="tall" count="1" href="http://billcammack.com/2011/08/20/jersey-shore-italy-twinning-part-01-of-02/"></g:plusone>

Episode 3 of “Jersey Shore”: Italy actually had a lot to discuss. We’re gonna do this in two parts, this week:

Ronnie & Sammi

Like I said.. Sammi has no existence on the show other than to be all up under Ronnie. As soon as she found out he was about to start trying to bring girls to the house, she amped up her full-court press, and you could see Ronnie starting to fold last week.

As I predicted would eventually happen, Ronnie sold out *AGAIN*, and he and Sammi are back together as a couple.

I’m disgusted, but it makes perfect sense. Ronnie went for the guaranteed lay, every night of his vacation in Italy.

The fellaz have been consistently striking out (read: failing to pull any Italian chicks), so it was either “don’t get laid at all” or “screw Sammi every night”, so Ronnie maximized his potential for vacation enjoyment.

Good for him. I’m still disgusted. Sold out, yet again.

Pauly

Pauly, being a non-Italian-speaker in Italy, struck out again this week (according to the edit). So far, all he’s managed to do is get Deena to make out with him, which basically amounts to nothing, considering that apparently, Deena would make out with a brick wall, household pet, or surfboard.

I’m still suspicious that he’s dating that chick Roccio that he was all lovey-dovey over in Miami, but he claims he’s trying to get chicks, so we’ll see what happens.

Jenni

Useful, as usual, for the scenes where the girls are half-dressed, getting ready to go to the clubs.

This week, she had an actual value to a storyline, however…

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that Mike “The SNITCHuation” had told all the fellaz that he had banged Nicole.

How did I know this?.. Because Mike told them while the cameras were rolling, and MTV included that footage in the edit.

The relevance of this is that regardless of whether Nicole found out that he did that while they were filming, she was going to find out when the show finally aired, and so was her boyfriend that Mike claims Nicole cheated on with him = problems for Nicole with her boyfriend.

This was obviously a dickbone move by Mike, and completely unnecessary. First of all, who cares that he screwed Nicole? \o/ Second of all, nobody asked him if he had hooked up with her. Third, if he was DYING to tell the fellaz, he should have done that off-camera or before the season started. He clearly did it on tape in an attempt to eventually break up Nicole’s relationship.

I mean, think about it.. It’s not like it’s some Herculean feat to lay Nicole. It’s not something you tell someone and then they go “OH, WORD??? :O” and they’re like all surprised that she gave it up. Mike wasn’t going to get any props from anybody for putting Nicole’s business in the streets.

Meanwhile, he’s busy telling Nicole that he cares about her and they have something special between them and that he’s only bringing girls home because he can’t hook up with her… The relevance of these events being that he’s been slickly laying the groundwork for when the situation was finally brought to light.

If Nicole hadn’t messed with him, she would have, at some point, said “What are you talking about?” or “Why do you think we’re close?” or “What do I care if you bring girls home?”.. Instead, she asked nothing of the sort and seemed to clearly understand why Mike was saying what he was saying.

To make herself look more guilty, she’s been trying to cockblock Mike for the entire first three episodes of this season. If she hadn’t hooked up with him, she should be minding her own ******* business.

Instead, she calls Mike over when he meets this American chick at the club so she can tell Mike the girl he’s talking to is ugly. When that same girl is leaving after Mike hits it, Nicole yells “Toodles, Whore! :D”. It’s like mind your own business.. Why do you care? o_O

So, everything’s pointing to Mike telling the truth about having had sex with Nicole while she was with her current boyfriend… This is where Jenni came in handy.

Of course, when Ronnie got back together with Sammi, NOW, Ronnie wants to sit with the girls and gossip. He proceeds to tell Sammi and Jenni that Mike said he banged Nicole, which makes Jenni spring into action because she doesn’t want another Miami situation where she failed to rat on Ronnie to Sammi about him cheating on her, and it turned into a big fiasco.

So Jenni tells Nicole that Ronnie told her that Mike told him that he hit it, and Nicole blows a gasket.

Nicole

Nicole’s value to this episode was finding out that Mike claimed she gave him some.

My favorite part was when Jenni was actually telling her that her business was in the streets, which went like:

Jenni: “Mike told people about what you guys did… Everyone.”

Nicole: “We didn’t do anything”

Jenni: “No. He told everyone.. He gave all your details”

Nicole: “What ******* details?”

Jenni: “He gave DETAILS!.. But it’s not details of like ‘oh, We hooked up a couple of months ago’, it’s details that say ‘I ****** Nicole, and she cheated on [boyfriend's name]‘.”

What was funny about that was when Nicole said “We didn’t do anything” and Jenni’s immediate response to her was “No.”

It was so funny because a) it’s a typical occurrence for women to have sex and then lie their asses off and say it didn’t happen, and b) other women are the ones that will at least PRETEND as if they believe what they’re being told. For Jenni not to even appease her by claiming to believe her, it was just hilarious. :D

This situation actually played itself out again a little later, as Nicole was sitting down with Ronnie and Jenni, explaining her side of the story. She claimed that a long time before she was with her boyfriend, Mike pressed up on her, she didn’t give him any, and he stormed off, upset, and she never hooked up with him.

Right after that, Ronnie wants to offer Nicole some advice, so he begins by saying “I don’t know what happened, but..” at which point, Nicole cuts him off and goes “I JUST *TOLD* YOU WHAT HAPPENED! :(”

Unfortunately, the cat was out of the bag. You don’t get to dictate reality when someone equally as credible as you is saying something different. Nicole had every reason to claim she never hooked up with Mike. She had no reason to come clean, if she did, in fact, have sex with him. Also, Mike had details that had already convinced Jenni that he was telling the truth, even hearing them secondhand from Ronnie. Also, when confronted, Mike asked Nicole if she wanted him to say details out loud about the situation, and she walked away, instead of challenging him to prove what he was saying. Also, every argument Nicole had was “Why did you tell people?”, not “What the **** are you talking about?”

If someone says you robbed a bank, the response is “No, I didn’t, you’re a bullshit liar, and let’s hear your so-called evidence, because it’s fake, because I didn’t rob a bank”. You don’t say “Why are you telling people that I robbed a bank? :O”

A similar situation happened to Sammi last season, which I discussed in “Girls Don’t Have Friends That Are Guys”. Sammi lied and lied and lied and lied and lied, until she decided that she was busted, and then she told as much truth as she was willing to give up.

So “We didn’t do anything” wasn’t going to be a good enough defense against Mike’s detailed description of their hookup, and it was very funny, for once in life, to see people not even bothering to pretend to believe the female’s side of the story off of general principle.

<g:plusone size="tall" count="1" href="http://billcammack.com/2011/03/05/winning-bullying-and-political-correctness/"></g:plusone>

Thanks to Charlie Sheen, we’ve been hearing a lot about Winning, lately.

We’ve also been hearing a lot of sour grapes about what he’s had to say about himself.

American society is “funny” like that. It’s pretty much cool for someone to WIN, unless they TELL YOU they’re winning. o_O

It’s also cool for other people to declare that you’re a winner, but you’re not allowed to say so yourself without people HATING the fact that you informed them that you’re winning. :D haha They don’t even hate that you’re winning, only that you essentially rubbed it in their faces.

The problem here is the exact same one as with Political Sex Scandals. Guys are elected to political office because they’re more efficient than you are at getting what they want, regardless of what the other team thinks… Then, these same guys are expected NOT to hook up with whatever females they want, regardless of what their wives think.

Those two mentalities don’t mesh. People need to stop being surprised when someone is born, raised, trained and groomed to WIN, and then, that winning lifestyle results in them doing or saying something INDICATIVE OF their actual lives, such as cheating on wives that they only married in the first place so they could rise in the ranks of politics (no such thing as a “single” President since the 1800s), or saying “I’m rich as **** and make millions of dollars PER WEEK, so I can afford as many hawt girls as I want, and there’s nothing you can do about it other than watch me and my family on televison and in films and keep paying us our royalties, beyotch! >:D”.

Meanwhile, if some drone on Entertainment Tonight says “Charlie Sheen reportedly receives 1.8 MILLION DOLLARS to appear in a single sitcom episode”, you go “Damn! haha What a lucky guy! I wish I were him! :D”

Winning

Personally, I’m addicted to winning.

I was born to win. I was born TO WINNERS. I was raised to win. I was trained to win. I love to win. I hate to lose. I never go anywhere or do anything without the full intention of WINNING. I intend to get the most I can get out of a situation. I intend to be the best I can be at whatever I’m doing.

Does this mean I never lose? Hellz naw. I lose all the time. I lose every day. This is because my sights are set so high that anything else than the win I envisioned is a LOSS to me.

I never lose when I’m working. I’m the closer. I’m the go-to guy. I’m the guy that will put in 16 hours a day on your project for three days in a row, to make sure your project’s completed properly and on time, and then you’re gonna owe me a whole hell of a lot of money for my time and attention to YOUR problem.

I can’t afford to lose when I’m editing. There’s no such thing as MOST of a television show. o_O You either complete it or you don’t. 1 or 0. Win or Lose. I intend and expect to win. Every Time.

I can’t afford it. My clients can’t afford it. If I don’t KNOW I’m going to win a situation, there’s no point in my accepting the job.

I’ve been teaching myself audio engineering for nearly a year now. I used to engineer for my friends Doc & Orlando at their studio “Sample Kings” back in the day, but today’s technology is a completely different beast, and there was a lot for me to learn.

The internet has made it insanely easy for me to find and absorb information. Back in the day, I used to have to go to the music library down at Lincoln Center, because they had all the magazines, like Mix, where I could learn about new hardware and mixing boards, and read interviews with the people who were actually makin’ it happen.

This meant that A LOT OF TIME WAS WASTED, traveling back and forth to the library, and I could only get new information at the rate that the magazines were published, and only about what they elected to discuss that month.

It also meant that I received a completely biased viewpoint. The only things published in magazines are FAVORABLE to what they’re advertising or showcasing. How many times have you seen negative testimonials? o_O How many times have you seen a commercial on television for a film that included anything but “WOW!.. STELLAR!!.. FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!!! :D”?

Now, learning is instantaneous. I want to know something, and I drop in to http://www.gearslutz.com/board/ or http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/andy-sneap-151/, and not only is the information there about the technology or techniques, but there are lively, informative discussions, pro AND con, amongst people that have actually already done what I’m thinking about doing.

Drive

The reason I bring this up in this article is.. I’m not learning mixing / engineering so I can be Good or OK at making records.. I’m learning it so I can be THE BEST at making records. Nothing else makes any sense to me or is worth anything to me at all.

Does that mean I’m actually going TO BE the best at it? Definitely not. I’m not the best at video editing, either.

What I’m saying is that my VISION is being the best. My actual goal is to be as good as I want to be, which for me, amounts to “I made it as far as I wanted to, and I can do anything I want with music, to my personal satisfaction. I’m the best I can be right now for the amount of effort and focus I put into this”.

However, the Drive comes from the Vision. Video Editing and Music aren’t the best fields to use for this example, because they’re so subjective.. They’re really actually art. You can’t really say one artist is better than another one without defining certain parameters. Without those parameters, a stick figure drawing could be better than an elaborate oil painting because it gets the point across or expresses the artist’s emotion more accurately or acutely.

Having said that.. When I become aware of someone who’s great at a skill that I’m currently striving to add to my personal repertoire, I’m not built to feel that I want to be OK at what they do. I’m not built to want to be as good as they are. I’m built to want to be BETTER than they are.. RIGHT NOW. IMMEDIATELY. >:D It actually bothers me that I’m NOT better than they are, which is what sends me back to the drawing board to put in another 16 hours of learning and improving myself.

When I feel like I’m as good as I want to be, that’s when I relax. That’s when I’m content, and I can enjoy my newly-developed skillz. Until that time, it’s GAME ON!!! >:D

If I give someone the short version of that information, and say “I’m studying to be a mix engineer”, they will be entirely, 100% in my corner. They’re going to cheer and pat me on the back and say “Way to go! :D” and wish me luck and ask me what they can do to help me.

If I tell someone “I’ve never mixed a record that sold one single copy ever in life, however, I’m in the process of becoming the best mix engineer on this planet”, people are going to HATE and talk behind my back and say that I’m arrogant and delusional and blah blah blah and they’re going to hope and pray that I don’t succeed.

Same exact information. Different delivery. Different result. Love vs Hate.

To make matters worse, if AAAAAAAANYONE ELSE says “Bill’s ******* GOOD at mixing! :O”, I will receive my propers. I will receive accolades and pats on the back and I will be publicized through people’s Facebook and Twitter accounts to no foreseeable end.

Bullying

Another recent fad has been the focus on bullying, which is basically the same thing as bragging that you’re a winner, but taking it to physically or psychologically abusive levels.

It will be interesting to see if all these vigils and rallies and protests have any effect whatsoever on basic human nature, especially amongst kids.

American society teaches us “Win, if you can.”

Everything you ever experience, growing up as a kid here is “The USA is better than everyone else on the entire ******* planet”.

Dave Chappelle: “U.N.? You have a problem with that? Know what you should do? You should sanction me.. Sanction me with your army….. OH!! WAIT A MINUTE!.. You don’t HAVE an army! :D .. I guess that means you need to shut the **** up! :D”

Our whole entire lives are BASED on bullying. Like ‘Ashy Larry’ said in the video, “Word to everything we LOVE, we’re coming to see y’all, SUNN!” Might makes right. Majority rules. To the victor belong the spoils.

In the politics of the United States, a spoil system (also known as a patronage system) is a practice where a political party, after winning an election, gives government jobs to its voters as a reward for working toward victory, and as an incentive to keep working for the party—as opposed to a system of awarding offices on the basis of some measure of merit independent of political activity.

The term was derived from the phrase “‘to the victor belong the spoils” by New York Senator William L. Marcy,[1][2][3] referring to the victory of the Jackson Democrats in the election of 1828.

We’re not trained to treat people fairly. The worst sports player gets picked last, if at all. The hawter-looking girls get more dates. The guy with the nice car can attract girls’ attention more easily… The only way around this is for PARENTS to teach their kids from day 01 to be nice to other kids and be fair to them, even if it’s clear that their child has a CLEAR advantage over someone else. Even then, the absorption of that code of ethics will come down to the kid’s actual personality, not how hard the parents strive to instill that belief system in them.

The USA is better than everybody. New York is better than all the other states. New York City is better than everywhere else in New York State. Manhattan is better than Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, or Staten Island (If you’ve never heard of those places, there are actually 5 boroughs that make up New York City, even though every time you see us on television, they only show Manhattan). Upper West Side is better than Harlem (Neighborhoods on Manhattan island). West End Avenue is better than Broadway (Streets within the Upper West Side). It never stops. There will always be reasons why people feel they’re better than someone else. All you can really hope to do about it is change how people process that information and react to people they naturally consider inferior.

Having said all that.. I think it’s a valuable quest for people to combat bullying. I’m saying that holding hands like The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and singing songs together isn’t gonna cut it.

You’re dealing with something that’s way more ingrained than “Is it fair for you to do this to someone?”. It’s like telling a dude “You always spend time with attractive women.. You should date a few busted chicks so they have a chance to have a good time, too.” hahaha It doesn’t work like that.. Ain’t that type-a party. >:D

In fact, the qualities of a bully are the same as the qualities of a winner and the qualities of a politician. All three are programmed to WIN!!!.. It’s just that bullies “use their powers for evil” instead of for good. It’s not the people themselves that are the problem, but what they elect to do with their position in the pecking order.

Political Correctness

My problem with Political Correctness is that it doesn’t change how anyone FEELS about anything. It’s merely a set of guidelines about what you’re allowed to say without being scrutinized or considered to be “different” by “the masses”.

Basically, if you’re a winner, so long as you don’t SAY you’re a winner, people sweat you and cheer you on. If you’re a bully, but don’t TELL PEOPLE you’re a bully, or you don’t bully anyone they know personally, that will tell them the story, people sweat you and cheer you on. If you’re a politician and you don’t INFORM ANYONE… well.. other than the pimps that you have to call on your government-issued cell phone in order to have them send you a girl on credit because you still haven’t paid them for the last hooker you ordered… that you’re cheating on your wife that you already have four kids with and she still looks hawt enough that you should be tappin’ THAT and keeping your political career intact, people sweat you and cheer you on.

If a dude is rich, famous and has eight (8) porno chicks on his payroll that he’s currently screwing on a regular basis, I want to hear about that. :D I don’t want him to hide his version of the American Dream. Nobody wins from that. Nobody wins if everybody acts like they’re living the same life. If I drink beer every day and someone else can afford champagne every day and someone else can only afford to drink tap water every day, I want to hear about BOTH of those stories.

If a gal figures out how to get a guy to marry her within 3 months of meeting him, I want to hear about that story, so I can avoid it happening to The Kid! >:D

hahaha That’s another thing. I just reminded myself. What’s up with all the HATING when people refer to themselves in 3rd Person??? :D

Like, suddenly, we’re supposed to be narcissists or something? haha Please! :D

(“we”, meaning people who refer to themselves in third person, not meaning Me, Myself and I)

It’s nice to try to protect people’s feelings and make sure nobody says anything that makes anyone else feel poorly, but what about The News? o_O

If people are so concerned about everyone’s mental stability, how come The News reports nothing but depressing negativity all day and all night? Who’s regulating that? Who’s telling The News they can only report on shiny, happy things from now on?

Nobody. Because television stations are getting pIZaid, is why. So the show must go on, and business is business. If you don’t like it, sanction them.. Sanction them with your army.

Part of the reason this is discussed so often is that people tend to define a personal brand in terms that don’t mean anything. By using terms for PEOPLE that are used to categorize COMPANIES, people are turned off to the concept or fail to understand the true meaning of the term.

Does personal branding exist? Yes. Do *YOU* have one? Maybe.

Basically, a “personal brand” is what people EXPECT when you come to mind. Period. Some people have this and some people don’t.

A personal brand is achieved through ACTIONS which people come to associate with your name or face. If you never DO anything that people perceive, you do not have a personal brand, IMO. This is because your name doesn’t “ring bells” and doesn’t alter anyone’s perception of a situation when they find out that you’re involved. This does NOT mean that you aren’t important… It merely means people don’t KNOW who you are and/or what you do.

For instance, if you google Emmy Award Editor I’m #1. Actually, I’m #1 AND #2, because the youtube version of the collab I did with Indy Mogul is in the second slot, with 11,240 views. People hit my resume page or my “about” page every single day, so lots of people have associated the name Bill Cammack with quality videotape editorial. This is what they EXPECT when they find out I worked on a project… Quality.

So what about Ian Jenkins?

“Who?” :D

Ian Jenkins is a friend of mine who edits and works A HELL OF A LOT HARDER than I do. :) Ian edits a show for Next New Networks called “Fast Lane Daily”, which just won a 2008 Webby Award.

That’s Ian in the white FLD shirt and headphones. Also pictured are a couple of other NNN friends of mine, J-Rad & Alan Kaufman.

Now… If I had a project I wanted to get done, Ian Jenkins would be one of the top guys I’d want working with me. That’s because I happen to know his work ethic and the skill and dedication he brings to the table. I know this because I’ve spoken to him, I’ve seen his work and I know people that work WITH him. Does he broadcast this himself? No. Not that I know of. Is he crafting a personal brand? Not that I know of. He’s doing what he does. IS “Ian Jenkins” a brand? HELL YES! :D That’s because when *I* hear his name, I EXPECT certain things from a project Ian worked on.

So who’s the better editor? Bill Cammack or Ian Jenkins?…. Unfortunately, editing is highly subjective. The only thing that matters is whether the job gets done WELL and ON TIME. So I say NEITHER of us is better as a editor. My personal brand is more recognized, because I spend hours every day working on it and Ian doesn’t give a damn. :) Ian meets deadlines every. single. day. while I play SOCOM. I’m freelance, so I’ve worked for a ton of shows, companies and people for advertising, corporate and broadcast productions. Ian’s a staffer, so he works on one show, and it runs on the internet, but he probably produces 15 videos for every one that I output. Ian shoots video as well. So do I, but I’d rather edit, and Ian’s probably better at shooting, because he does it infinitely more than I do.

My point is… You can’t tell JACK from how well someone uses the internet to publicize themselves. I’m not going to tell you to google Video Editor Resume (I’m #3) to figure out who’s GOOD or who can make it happen. That’s just a list of people that know how to use tags, or even worse, actually PAID PEOPLE to get them better rankings on google. :/ Doesn’t mean they’re any good at what they do AT ALL. Doesn’t mean their name “rings bells” IRL. What matters is what people know or perceive about you, which IS your personal brand, whether you LIKE that or not and whether you EMBRACE that or not.

Regardless of whether you brand YOURSELF, people are going to brand YOU. I started telling people to Google “Bill” (I’m currently #9 of 541,000,000 pages for “Bill”) because I don’t carry business cards, and it’s really the easiest way for people to get in touch with me. Next thing I know, hahaha this is how I’m being introduced to people at parties. :) This wasn’t MY idea, but people get a kick out of that and it spreads from person to person.

Actually… And I don’t know whether to laugh or cry about this… :D Neither my professional accomplishments nor my stellar search engine rankings (e.g. women dating nyc #3) are what most people that I meet “know me for”. It’s always “….. YOU’RE that guy that’s in all those pictures with all those women! :D”.

So, BESIDES not overshadowing your BUSINESS brand with your SOCIAL brand, :) the moral of our story is… Do you have a personal brand? Maybe. It depends first of all on whether you actually DO ANYTHING, and second on whether you’re letting people KNOW that you do these things or whether other people are publicizing you. If people think differently of something because you’re involved with it, that’s your PERSONAL BRAND at work. This does NOT only have to do with business either. We’ll get into that another time. You might have a personal brand when it comes to dating. The fact that you can be trusted in general and your word actually MEANS SOMETHING is potentially part of your personal brand.

There’s also NEGATIVE personal branding, such as when a client refuses to pay you for several months for work you did for them and you’re getting ready to blast their name and company all over the WORLD WIDE WEB for not living up to their agreements EVERY SINGLE DAY until you get satisfaction, which would amount to receiving PAYMENT IN FULL for services rendered. But that’s a story for another day. :D

So that’s what I think about personal branding. If you’re in the “public” eye (as ‘public’ as our small Echo Chamber gets) brand yourself or other people will do it for you. Whatever opinions come to mind when people hear your name or see your face, that’s YOUR brand. Even if NO opinions come to people’s minds or they’ve never heard of you, that doesn’t matter as long as YOU know what you’re bringing to the table. “The Fame Game” isn’t for everybody. Not everybody CAN do it, not everybody SHOULD do it and not everybody does it WELL.

So.. Does ‘Personal Branding’ exist, or am I talking about vaporware? :D
